• Another question about the Jackson trem

Sorry to bombard you guys about all of this, but I'm going to see the guitar tomorrow. This is a 1-hum Charvel with a Jackson trem. The question is, is this necessarily a JT6 or could it be something else? I confirmed over the phone that it isn't a Schaller.

The Schaller's are branded as Jacksons (JT-560??) so it might not be a JT-6. If it has the toothpaste logo then it's prob the Schaller. The White guitar logo ones (For the most part) had Kahler's (86) and JT-6's (87-88)

If the tuners are behind the saddle and not on top it's a JT6. The Schaller is the Jackson 590. The JT6 is by no means a worst case scenario. They didn't build it from the best possible materials and it doesn't have the better Floyd style nut. With that said it is still an excellent tremolo. I prefer the JT6 fine tuners over the regular Floyd style myself. I pick similar to Lynch with my hand right on the bridge. The JT6 has no fine tuners to worry about taking out of tune.

It's A LOT better than a single locking trem.

I've owned my model 2 since new and never had trouble with the JT6 at all.

Looks like a JT6 trem to me. Damn, for $100.00 I don't think you could go wrong. Nice looking Charvel you have there Powertube.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, it is indeed a JT-6. Just on a whim, after I got it home tonight I dropped the bar all the way down until the strings were hanging freely. When I brought it back up, it was still perfectly fine-tuned!

Of course, I won't make a habit of doing that since I don't hit the bar that much, anyway.

By the way, I thought about this after the fact. Just so I don't mislead anyone, it didn't come with a case. That's my old Kramer case which I took to work with me today, just in case (pun intended) I needed it, which I did.
