Custom Shop Generator Status

Greetings board members.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Custom Shop Generator is starting to undergo some updates. I have begun adding some features to the existing generators, and after that, new body styles will be added.

Natural finishes have been added, along with more inlay and pickup options. All body styles now have the "Stencil" option like the Soloist.

Here's a very quick preview of a few of the new features:



The process takes time, and it will be a few months before any of the changes make it to the web site. Please be patient.

I fully intend to make these available on CD with this new release. I have not yet discussed the particulars with the admins yet, but it is something that I really want to do.

You DEFINITELY need "CD Only" options to make it sellable - like maybe certain body styles (Demon, King Kelly, VVV) and advanced options for each model (like overlays that can be put over the body in Photoslop to do Kutz).
Maybe something like custom fret numbers (25+), custom fretboard ends (like Xeno's double-slanted thingy), Stratheads [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

None of the current body styles support binding due to the bevels and rounded edges and contouring. The new shapes (Firebird, etc.) that actually had a bindiing option from Jackson will have binding with user-defined colors.

My original intent was not to make a bunch of money on the CD. I only wanted to provide a convenient carrier for all of the generators so you could use it while offline. I'd like the forum to get a few bucks from each sale, as well.

Something doesn't seem right about providing options only available to those who buy the disc, and hiding them from the rest of the forum members.

The only CD-only option I would like to add is a print function that does not work on the web, but does work if the flash application is packaged as an EXE (like it would be on the CD). There is a charge for the software to enable that feature, and if added, I would maybe add a few bucks to the cost of the CD to cover the additional expense. I have to look into that option a bit more, though. It's just a thought at this point.

Yeah, but it's easy enough to dig the files out of your cache and avoid paying for it, especially if the only extra option you get with the cd is direct-printing a hardcopy.
The time and effort you've put into this is definitely worth money, and you shouldn't feel bad about asking for at least SOME compensation.
This is the coolest set of toys ever, and they're worth money.
