  • I'm really having a hard time here :(

I really really love my new axe. But this thing is driving my crazy. Matt has been super helpful. I have most of the fret buzz eliminated, there is still more than I like. The action is still low and very nice for my playing style.

My problem is this - My guitar is intonated almost perfectly. Open notes are in tune, 12th fret notes are in tune, 24th fret notes are in tune. Get this: My 6th string (low E) on the 2nd fret (Gb in concert tuning) is 1/3 sharp. WTF is up with that?

I took it to a local Jackson/Fender authorized place and he said it was just crazy. My guitar did take a wallop in shipping and it broke a hole in my case, that matt said he would get UPS to take care of.

I just feel like I'm cursed. What should I do?

Let Matt handle it.. he's a standup guy and he'll point ya in the right direction ..

If you are not happy with it then send it back.

I received a DK-1 recently that was not well in several respects. I loved the look of the guitar but I ended up sending back.

please understand that I really like this guitar. My biggest concern is that I don't want to insult/piss off/ or otherwise insult matt. I'm trying to figure out how to make this work, but not making any headway with it. I'm just sad.

Trust me dude...Matt and I are in the same line of work, and every time something like this happens, as a dealer you're way more worried about your customer being happy with what they got than being pissed off about him returning something. Matt will take good care of you.

All the notes in the 1-5th fret area will be sharp, thats just a "feature" of our beloved guitars. Check them with a strobe tuner, and see what i mean.
The only way to fix it, is with a compensated nut.

I'll try and give him a call Tomorrow. You all have to understand that I am never one that would raise a fuss over anything. The intonation is just very skewed at the moment. I thought this was the result of a temp change, but it has not subsided.

Sigma, is it just the second fret E string that's out? How's the intonation at the first and third frets? How about the other strings in the lower registers?
