    IMPORTANT - new type of eBay phishing - BEWARE

    All,

    I was looking for items tonight on eBay (4975908063), and when I clicked on a specific item it went directly to a login page. This type of phishing is new to me, so when you get a login page, especially when it is unexpected, check the URL. Even this isn't foolproof, but this should expose a large number of these types of phishing attacks.

    ADMINS - place this where you want - I wanted to put it where it would be seen. I posted this on CC as well. If this is old news, accept my apologies.

    What is a Phishing attack?
    I think i may have repeatedly loggd in when on ebay..
    perhaps I should chnage my account paswords....

      I know to check older auctions by search, it goes to log in page but does this happen even a new auction?

        Only to view the "My Ebay" and "Completed Listings" should it require you to sign in, as far as I know. And, obviously to pay for something too.

                Interesting tactic. I've never had to log in when viewing an item, but I've had to log in when bidding, adding to my watchlist, or paying, even though I click the "Keep Me Logged On, DAMMIT!" box whenever I log in.

                      And this type of thing is why my PayPal account has a different login than my fleaBay account. What's the worst that can happen if someone gets your fleaBay id/password? Win a bunch of stuff? So, you lose your feedback and start from scratch (which is certainly a PITA, don't get me wrong...but that's why I have two fleaBay IDs and split time between them...always have a backup). But, if your PayPal is the same as your fleaBay, all of a sudden you might find your checking account cleaned out.

                      Just a thought...
