• RR - How about balance?

Hello to everyone, i looked this board a little and couldn't find anything about balancer of the RR or KV1 Jackson USA made guitars. I have Jackson PS-3, and balance is very sad, it is very neck heavy. Since i am looking for USA made RR ( or KV1), i would like to know how is it balanced? Is it perfect or is it a little neck heavy? I don't want to pay a lot of money for neck heavy guitar.

RR-1 balances Perfect IMO, Can´t comment on the KV but I would assume similar

KV balances great! Of course it depends also on the weight of the body woods and bridge but the differences are small.
To me the KV shape is the ultimate in playing comfort both standing and sitting down. RR is a close second.

The Kelly is the one you have to worry about. It nosedives if you're not careful.

rr-1 balance is great...also check out the warrior which is the most perfectly balanced/comfortable to play either sitting or standing...my 2 cents

Welcome. I've read several threads about the RR balance issue here. The majority find that it is not an issue. Those who do, for the most part, say that a wider strap will generally alleviate any balance problems. BTW, I have an RR-1 and think it balances just fine.

Great, cause i am looking to buy RR1. problem here where i live is that Jackson guitars are not in stock, so you have to order it thru shop/dilers and that means when axe arrives you have to buy even if you don't like it. Well, of course we have that japan made flyng V in stock, but i am looking at usa made or maybe even custom made (thru guitar asylum).

I also have no problems with the balance of my Rhoads, it's a very comfortable guitar

A wider strap will help, and I've also found a cotton strap vs. nylon works better too, as the cotton 'clings' more to your shirt and helps hold the guitar up. On my 2 RRs, I moved the strap button on the neck heel forward (ie more towards the neck) about a 1/2", and that, combined with the cotton strap makes the RRs balance the same as my J/C strat bodies.

I found my RR1 didn't balance well; but, I did have a nylon strap. I am sure a leather strap would have held it in place.

I found my RR1T and RR5 balanced perfectly with the same strap.
