yeah. Anyone know why thye changed the design? I cant get ove rthe new design - I am such a picky bastard about that. I hear the retail for $345. Is that true? my connection is horrible these days so I cant ge thier new page to load.
good news though. I am a kahler lover.

<font color="aqua">They changed the design from brass frame to aluminum because they said the players complained that the unit was too heavy. Personally I think it was a mistake and won't be as nice soundwise. I have not tried one yet though so I can't give an honest description but someone on the board has, and agrees with what I'm thinking. Only time will tell though! </font>

Dave, the aluminum one is the "Vindicator" - they still do brass.

I have spoken with him numerous times about the "NEW" Kahler grand opening and all about the new products. Possibly I could be mistaken so just log into the forum and ask, that way you'll know for sure. </font>

Most Kahler 2300 series trems I have had over the years had a non-brass outer mounting ring (they always looked like die cast pot metal to me). Only the earliest ones looked like brass. Infact, even gold ones after 1984 are a chrome plating with a gold finish (not plating) similar to what we se on Charvel neckplates.

Gotcha!

Not so sure about sound, but I do know that the brass ones seemed to wear better in the long run. Some of those other rings really pitted out, especially in the Kahler engraving.
