xeno, the glues used in cases does indeed reek when heated up. I HATE the smell of a new SKB case. They air out nice, but if left in the sun that god awful stink comes back.
This may sound disgusting, but have you actually stuck your nose in the case and sniffed it out? Is there a place in the case where it smells extremely pungent as opposed to other spots in the case? If a cat marked there, I would just get rid of it -- return it. There is stuff out there called Nature's Miracle that is available at PetsMart, but I think that would destroy your case. It works well, but I would return the case. Urine is acidic, and might damage the finish on the guitar.

I haven't tried to pin-point the smell, but it seems to be all over.
Thanks for the tips, and even with the case dry, the guitar ( a new DK2) still picks up the stench very quickly.
the smell could just be the glue holding the fabric together. most of my jackson cases smell really nice. but i once bought a new gator case for my strat, and to this day it still smells like fish. its just the glue i assume
Nature's Miracle does work great, so try some of that and let it air out. Also, you may want to get some little charcoal filters they sell in pet stores for fish tanks or cat litter boxes... they absorb odors pretty quick.
I bought a set of Duncan Invaders a few years ago from Doc Dryer and put them in my old Kelly... the pickups wreaked of cigarette smoke and made the guitar and case smell, the charcoal helped greatly.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
i think most of the grey chainsaws stink
i got one too
but its more the smoky smelly thing
the guitar(my 88 firecracle Grover sig) sucked the smell too
i use to have her in another case for a year now
the thing is
i got two smelly cases now, lol
good luck getting it fresh
i have bought several smelly cases and amps over the years. an amp as it heats ups can really stink up the place (cigarette smoke mostly, ex smoker picky SOB), the best solution is one of those ion generating room deodorizer, just put the case in front of the unit in a small room turn it on full blast and in about 24 hrs almost all of the stench will be gone. with no damage to the case.
I've got a case that smells like coffee. At least it wasn't that cheap-ass coffee that smells like piss when it dries. Although I really don't like the smell of cold coffee (or hot coffee) but I can tolerate it.

FYI - If it is truly cat piss - you will not get it out.
I got a case like this once (hey it was free so no big deal). I has a guitar in it for 45 mins before I figured it out and I still thought it might melt the paint off.
I dumped a ton of the "pet" urine remover stuff that I got from a local pet store into it two times and it did nothing. If the cat pissed in it enough, it actually wil get into the padding, under the lining and maybe into the wood. Even the urine remover says it only works it it can actually come into contact with the sourse. Perfumes DO NOT work either.
Two choices: Throw it out or have it re-lined.

Ha! Smelly cases. I've got one to top them all off! Ted sold me a Jackson Fusion and it came with the most disgusting odor I've ever inhaled. Not being a pot head I had no idea what bong juice smelled like. Well, that's when I learned. Some punk knocked his bong over and the juices fell all into the case. I ended up removing the foam insert, bleached the plastic of the case, washed the "fur" 10 gazillion times, and it was all to no avail. The case is now up in the attic, has been for years, wonder if it's cleaned up yet?!

Put it on Ebay - surely someone out there wants a case that smells like bongwater
List it as once belonging to Jerry Garcia

I agree with Jim, I just got a guitar offa Ebay myself a few weeks ago and it came with a new SKB case. Durn Stanky. Still trying to air it and the guitar out. On the other hand I love that vanilla-ish Jackson smell, and my Sl-1 still has it.
I've done the febreeze thing in my case...doesn't work.
The pee smell comes right back in a couple of hours or so.
Yep, my cat pee'd in my case and the guitar smells like pee as well. Its only in the body area not the neck.
Its true cats do love guitar cases.
Honestly, I too will be getting a new case...theres not anything that I've tried that will remove the smell of cat pee long term or indefinitely, as far as guitar cases are concerned. Cat pee is some very powerful and potent pee.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
