Standard. I know its different, but you can play the biggest variety of stuff on it. You just adjust your position on the board. I have been experimenting with play "one finger power chords" in standard tuning. It is easy, fast, and has a nice evil undertone to it. If you were to hit a standard three string power chord muting the low string it would be the sam thing, so this method gives you a lower set to work with. I call it "Drunge"
2 guitars standard tuning, 2 to E flat.
One of each has a D-tunas so I can Drop D in e of E flat.
I don't play death metal so I don't need to tune down
although I 'd love to pick up a Petrucci model 7 string so
I can play some of the stuff on "Train of thought" and some Sevendust once in a while.
My model 6 is standard. I have one Wolfie in E (drop D w/dtuna) and the other in Eb (drop Db w/dtuna). My 7-string is 1 step down (A,D,G,C,F,A,D), plus it's non-trem so I can quickly change the 6th string to C to get a drop C tuning on the top 6 strings (C,G,C,F,A,D). This covers just about any song I want to play along with.
