Read his post again! He's referring to each of his guitars. Soloist= E, Dinky=E flat, and his Rhoads is tuned to D.

C# standard for my faster riffs and B standard for my Death/Melodic Death originals. I don't tune to E standard as I usually play in E alot when I'm tuned down to B anyways. Yeah I'm not relying on the low B note for heaviness. Just gives it that extra uglyness that I want on purpose. C# is a perfect tuning though for any style. Just low enough where it doesn't get muddy when your playing thrashier riffs.

I just tried a new gauge of string for D tune'n,
Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky 11 to 54.
The best so far.

I drop the Whole step often but for most of my playing im in standard to a half step down......Personally dont like how slack the strings get when they are too low, even with heavy gauges. But im looking for a 7 string.....maybe even a custom shop, but that all depends on if i win the lottery or not.

Standard E, it's the best for thrash. I'm not into the down tuning business, but sometimes I tune one guitar to D

Standard tuning or down a half step (Yngwie and Joe Stump style!)

Same, but for Lynch and Armored Saint.

Got one axe in full D and one in drop C these days.

Back at home I have a seven stringer that's a full step down and my warmoth is in E.

A 440 (aka E standard)

It's worked damn well for a lot of great bands. Besides, a good riff is a good riff no matter how you tune your guitar. It doesn't need to be in the range of a bass to be "heavy."

true, but I love the way low tuned guitars sound.
