I tune to E standart, don't think you need to tune dow to be metal, the great ones haven't... BTW if you want to try a song in C# try Bad Horsie of Steve Vai, thats on sick horse!!!

mostly by ear but sometimes I use a tuner.... lol.

My band? Dropped Db

My practice guitars are usually tuned Eb, E or C# standard... right now two to drob Db, one to C# standard.

Perfect 5ths.... It's like a violin and cello tuning... 5 octaves with only 6 strings. All new chord and scale shapes, but they're consistent in every position. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

All my guitars are 440 except for a ESP hard tail which has the low E dropped to D for a few songs we do.
