I'm not a fan of the "Flame" finishes - especially the Vintage variety...Also - I prefer black hardware to chrome...

I'm using these comments to try and figure what to paint a couple of guitars. There aren't a lot of choices left.

I actually don't mind the outer space graphics. I think their somewhat hazy appearance lends itself to the limits of guitar graphic art, and the subject is timeless, so it should age well. These are the same reasons I like Lightning Sky. The graphics look a lot like the real thing (as opposed to say, Bikini Beach, which doesn't look much like the real thing).

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I don't like Hot Rod Flames, either. Again, too crude and simplistic looking for my tastes.

Overall, I guess my all-time favorite graphic finish is Red Ghost Flames - with no "blob" in the top horn.

I hate: all the crackle finishes, all the animal prints, and all the stupid sword and monsters, dungeons and dragons, knights that say lame bullshit.

Dislike:
Trans finishes over Flamed Maple. Wierd colored tiger prints, & I really hate leapard print on anything. Most of the other graphics I dont dispise, but they don't make me want to puke. Bright solid finishes.

Like:
Solid colors, pardon my political incorrectness - except girlie colors (pink, teal, baby blue, etc), I dont mind the skull, death, gore, blood type graphics. Lightning sky is great. Trans finishes over Quilted Maple.

Erm, why not just pick a graphic that you like and say to hell with what everyone else thinks? For every graphic, you're going to find a couple of people who can't stand them.

If there was another thread titled "Favorite Finishes," I'll bet you a million jillion dollars that people would be listing the same graphics that are mentioned in this thread. (Not the same people, obviously.)

Ok here goes, I hate: PINK, Purple, Seapuke Green, any of those 80s style graphics, any animal print except bengal, well I really hate blue bengal, polka dots, and sorry guys but I think the bullseye is lame.

Oh and again sorry to alot of you guys but I hate trans finishes, for petes sake get a PRS or something, Jacksons are supposed to look mean... [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Let the flaming begin....

Well, I have a blue and orange Hot Rod Flame DK-2 on the way now.....I guess I have to refinish my "pool of lava" Predator into a REDRUM, then I will have covered what most people on here hate!! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

These guitars are hot-rods guys, they should look like them. The only guitars that should be black are Les Paul Customs and Strats with white or Mother of Toilet Seat pickguards.

I love the shattered glass, come on guys!!

I guess maybe many of you are young. I can remember walking into the guitar store in the late '80s and seeing all of the custom shop graphic Jacksons hanging on the wall and just thinking they were the shit! Of course, I have never actually owned a guitar with graphics, but I have always liked them...they were just very pricey until recently.

Green is my favorite color, so I dig the hell out of trans green.....flame or curly. I am not a fan of gold harware, or black for that matter really. I like chrome, baby, chrome! [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

I dont really dislike any graphics, I only really care for red on flame or quilt tops... but a guitar is a guitar is a guitar.
And I think Chrome hardware is the shit...

Hey I just thought of a graphic that would be cool (because I see the joke in it).
For some background, back in the '80s/early '90s there was a skateboarder by the name of Natas Kaupas (his 1st name spelled backwords - satan). Well there was an add in one of the skate mags. Title said: 4 out of 5 skaters prefer satan over jesus. The picture was black&white w/ satan siting on a throne in the middle of the pic w/ dead carcases hanging by chains all around him.
