I have seen Buckethead without his mask and he is sadly not Christopher Guest.

Re: Mini NAMM 2003 Report

I know Pat. Just not sure why Lynch is taking it bitter because he's not good at talking with the public. He's always been like that. Hell he barely talks at all in the old Dokken video. So because he's quiet and doesn't know what to say he's an a$$hole? Amazing. This post is almost as good as the "dissappointed" one. Further proof that opinions are like a$$holes I guess.

high points:

seeing ron (racer x) kick ed roman in the rear and smack him upside the head

paul stanley - he was WAY nicer to me than i was thinking he'd be.

jim marshall signing a marshall shirt for me

talking to floyd rose at length about his new speedloader

looking at the new charvels with grover jackson and mike shannon

flipping thru what may become a jcf "chicks and guitars" calendar

it was also good to meet some jcf'ers, and see some familiar faces as well.

when tod he'd have to wait 10 minutes for

Re: Mini NAMM 2003 Report

I got to know George pretty well about the time the first Lynch Mob album was due to be released. Teched for him at a couple of shows, hung at his house, etc. He was a bit moody, but never an assh*le that I saw.
Maybe old age is making him bitter. It happens.
Right, Lex? *

* that was a joke...I'm old too. And bitter!

Re: Mini NAMM 2003 Report

And Ron took his screen name from the Ultra-Cool Interpol Agent form the Speed Racer cartoon, not that crappy wanker band that Paul "Ibanez are better than Jackson because they give me free Dinky copies" Gilbert

Seriously, though, my brother met Dokken during the Tooth and Nail tour in New Orleans and he said Lynch and Jeff were really open and cool, but Don was copping a "GOD! Do I HAVE to be HERE!?!" attitude.

Anyways, I imagine Lynch wants to hear people raving on his current release, not the old stuff.
You should have asked him why he had ESP make him a copy of an Ibanez Talman for his new sig model instead of something better-looking and no to retro/50-ish.

Re: Mini NAMM 2003 Report

Well, my cable has been down till now so I couldn't post anything about NAMM till now. On the George Lynch thing, I've met him twice so far and thought he was pretty cool. At least he always stayed to meet and sign autographs for everyone there. At NAMM he was at at least three different booths and looked pretty tired late saturday. I say give the guy a break.

Now Eddie Van Halen on the other hand blew off everyone after a nearly 4 hour wait. Great guitar player, no doubt about it but I'd say this was my only disappointment at NAMM.
I did meet some JCF members at the show though as well as the JCF admins. It was great meeting everyone and I hope the admins are enjoying their Jackson calendars, they were a big hit with those who saw them
I also met some of the Fender guys that were on the forum around the time of the buyout. They were pretty cool too and I hope they're still around on this board.

Some of the big names I met at NAMM included George Lynch of course, Michael Angelo, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Chris Impeliterri, Jack Frost, Kerry King. I also met Mike Shannon. And the big surprise was that Lloyd from GuitarXpress.Com arranged a Jackson factory tour for us! That was the highlight for me, got to go to the Custom Shop and got a guided tour with Tim Wilson as well as met Celeste whom I've only spoke with on the phone before. I have tons of pictures from the Jackson Custom Shop as well as NAMM itself if anyone is interested.
And oh yeah, if Brooks is reading this I have pics of your Koa at the Custom Shop
