is this your first guitar ever, or your first electric? do you have any friends who play that can come with and check it out for you?

as far as the warranty stuff goes, you're outta luck. i assume that the guy isn't a jackson dealer, so it's probably not "new" but maybe like new. perhaps some of our dealers have similar stock? that way you'd know you're getting the guitar from a reputable place.

That's the thing Sully, he's been directed towards the Official JCF Dealers more than once before, and he tells me that he doesn't doubt their stellar service, but he needs the absolutely best price possible because he's on a tight budget. Hence, he went with Guitar Center because he claims they gave him a good price. See his other thread:

Screw warranties. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] All seven of my guitars I've ever owned never had hangtags, warranties, or any of that fancy paperwork crap. Six of those guitars were purchased used, three of them online shipped from various countries (Canada, USA, Japan) based on pure blind faith. One of them doesn't even have a frickin' serial number of all things ANYWHERE on the guitar, so verification is down the drain. thanks notp; i can't speak for matt, but i would think that he may do better than gc for a jcf member. however, i'd like to reiterate that i cannot speak for him.

anyway, my best advice is to take a friend with you who also plays guitar and have him check it out too. then again, if you play acoustic, you should be fine. if the guitar plays well all over the neck, i'm sure you'll be okay.

Thanks for your replys guys, but to be honest, I'm more confused than when I started this thread. I know you are all trying to help, but stating all those things is only adding to my concerns. Especially the flaws in the guitar and no warranty. Don't know what to do....

Dude, can I ask you something? How old are you? I'm willing to guess that your parents want to ensure their son is not gettin' screwed online. Don't worry, I was there myself about two or three years ago. As a result, I missed out on a Jackson USA SLATQH because I became consumed by potential "issues" and flaws. And the guitar was FRICKIN' BRAND NEW!! I've told you before that I then signed up for Ebay and plunged myself into the world of online buying/selling, starting with little things. I didn't get my first online guitar until MUCH later. You just have to take the word of the seller and observe feedback, previous transactions, reputation, etc. Nobody is maliciously trying to "get you" as I once thought.

Onto the issue with trem bars. Bars are bars. Our very own Budman will probably make you a bar better and stronger than any bar out there. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Dude, seriously, why all the hoopla about 1000000% absolute authenticity? "Official Jackson bar" is a really weird phrase... first time I've ever seen a question like that come up. The Jackson JT580LP trem bridge is made by Takeuchi. It's not even frickin' Jackson-made. On the USA Select Series, you've got an Original Floyd Rose. Nowhere on a bar itself will you see a "Jackson" (or any other manufacturer to my knowledge) stamp or label. Don't start about the pickups being Duncan Designeds and not Jackson factory pickups, nor the tuners being Jackson-labelled Gotohs, nor the strings being factory 9-42 gauge nickelwounds that are probably D'Addario strings, nor the paintjob not being painted by Mr Grover Jackson himself... I don't follow a lot of Jackson auctions, but isn't the price of that one getting pretty close to the price of a new one (It is $350.00 right now)?

It seems that for the amount of reservations you have about this auction, you may be best-off to visit a dealer or buy from a dealer on-line where you will have the piece-of-mind of knowing you have a warrenty and a brand-new guitar.
