• Binding over fret ends??

I have a 89 Les Paul Custom and a 84 Rhoads custom that have binding over the frets, they are nice. So my question is a am placing an order for a Jackson custom shop guitar and was wondering if you guy think its worth the 200+ dollar upcharge for them on the guitar? By the way its for a 24 fret soloist I am considering ordering.

I dig the way it looks and I'm used to the way it feels now. Sure, there's a little bit less actual playable fret area especially on the high and low E strings, but it's barely noticeable. The question is whether you think it's worth it to YOU. It does look REALLY classy though and it's a labor intensive process, which is an indication of a meticulously hand crafted instrument.

I kinda think it blows that there's no binding nibs on my Edwards Les Paul Custom, but for a sub-$1000 guitar, I TOTALLY cannot complain.

So really that is pretty much what I am trying to find out the only advantage is looks, plus refretting is a bitch too.

If binding is over the fret ends it was probably not massed produce at that time. I have a 2 early Soloist 85&86 the 86 dosen't have the binding over the frets. It takes less time to bind the neck then put the frets in over the binding. The other way is to fret the neck then put on the binding then cut the binding around the frets. Way less time the 1st way and much more hands on custom made the 2nd.

That binding over the frets is one of the things I love about Jackons. If you are going to bother getting a CS, I think you should go all the way IMHO (When I order a Charvel last year I originally speced just a quatersawn maple neck, but I thought about I and went for birdseye in the end, I figured if you are gonna do, dont f around!)

I'd definitly say go for it as well! It's something that further sets it aside from any other guitar.
