    Re: Binding over fret ends??

I have a few Jacksons and a Les Paul that have the binding over the fret ends. I like the way it looks and I don't notice any difference playing wise with one exception. I notice on my Shannon Soloist that the high catches in there on some songs. The "Spirit of the Radio" into is one that is a real pain on that fiddle.

Where does the string catch? Does it catch at the point where the binding and fret end joins as if there's an indentation or something of the like there?
I thought one of the points of fret binding was to prevent the string from catching underneath the actually fret.
I had a guitar (no binding) that did this with the high E string that would catch underneath the fret as there was a small space between the fingerboard and the fret.

I think I will go for the binding over frets, I am going with a San Dimas theme on the soloist, with San Dimas neck, San Dimas style Jakson logo with Made in USA underneath so it will look great. Do you guys know if I can request no logo San Dimas style tuners from the custom shop.

It catches between the fret and the binding. It won't stick there but it kills the note. Most of the time I don't notice, but typically a pull-off aound the 4th or 5th fret will cause it. I think it is just the downward motion of a pull off.
