• Surfcasters.. Like Em?

I'm seeing a plethora of Surfcasters on Ebay recently and i'm considering picking one up. They look really nice but i've never played one or even seen one in person. There is a really nice 12 on there as well which looks really nice. They remind me of Rics' a little bit and i'm wondering how many of you have em and what you think.
Thanks...

Charvel750 has a doubleneck 'Caster and he says they're great. I can't get past the shape or the lipsticks

It has been years since I played one, but I seem to remember they were pretty good. I have a few friends that have owned them and really liked them. I think there are a few different models. Some may be better than others. I too have been tempted to pick one up after seeing a good deal on e-bay.

I like their sound, but their look leaves something to be desired.

They have a cool retro vibe, and tonally are one of the most versatile guitars I have every played. My buddy has one, and he has never been able to intonate it properly. There isn't enough travel on the saddles. Damn vintage styled TOM bridges.

Re: Surfcasters.. Like Em?

essentially a surfcaster without body binding, and there was a humbucker in the bridge position, not 2 lipstick singles next to each other.

i think they were only made for a year, you don't see very many of them at all.

I have a SC 12 string, that´s a really nice guitar.
I generaly like the whole Surfcaster idea, what a cool name for a guitar

i love them. i had 3 of them , one was a 12 string, and mine had humbuckers in the bridge. depends on what kind but i do dig 'em.

The blond Jackson Surfcasters were just gorgeous - blond maple top, maple fretboard, black binding and sharkfins. Don't see them come up much.

I liked mine just fine. I was able to really get some thick and "gooey" sounds out of that thing. Not just the Dick Dale sound.

I had a blonde one(Jackson)that had a h/s setup with hardtail, as well as an orange flame top Charvel with trem and the single lipsticks. I still have a seafoam green Charvel Surfcaster, and a custom shop neck-thru Outcaster with a Charvel guitar logo on it. The green one has duncan JB jr pickups in it, and I replaced the stock tuners with some Grovers with keystone knobs, which add to the vintage vibe.

The outcasters also did not have the F-hole or "catseye" cutout. I dig 'em....but then again, I am Surfdork.
