• Jackson Necks

I have a Jackson SH2, I like the tone a lot but the neck is really heavy, is there a model with a faster neck or I`ll have to check another brand like ESP that seems to have faster necks.

The KVs has a thinner neck profile, as does the dinky line, DK1, DK2, DXMG, etc...

An SH2 with a heavy neck? The SH2 *is* from the Stealth line isn't it? I always thought the Stealth necks were among the thinnest, even compared to a KV2.

Nope, Soloists have the same neck profile as everything else. The speed neck is what he's looking for, which are on the KV1, KV2, and KE1.

speed is in the players technique, not the neck

easier for guitarists that don't have long fingers though.

Nonsense. I have small hands and can fly on any neck from an Ibanez to a fat Gibby.

You're the exception Chuck. If I try to fly on a fat neck, my wrist starts aching.

I have an Ibanez RG3120 and it`s so much faster than my Jackson SH2, I`ll check the Jackson DK1 for a thinner neck or maybe I`ll end at the custom shop

Yea I gotta agree with Noodles, thats unusual I think because my two main guitars are my Kelly and my BC Rich (I use the warmoth for jazz and clean tone stuff mostly) and I can really only shred on the Jackson. The BC Rich has a more gibson profile neck and it just slows me down a lot, plus its painted.

I have never owned a painted neck guitar, is the consensus that those are slower necks to get around on?

my Charvel Model 2 neck is super slim, I love it.

The general feeling, and rightfully so, is that painted necks feel 'stickier' and therefor seem (and do) to slow you down.

your level of playing shouldn't be so fragile and dependant on the guitar that you're playing. sure, there's personal preference and such, but you should pretty much be able to play as well on a les paul as an ibanez.
