Re: Strings gauges

I've been getting Picato's from England for a while and really love their tone. A regular of Blackmore and Schenker.
Picato custom RB77 - 10-48's tuned in E on my Strat's and Jackson's.
D'Addario 10-46 tuned in E or Eb on my Jackson's.

Re: Strings gauges

I just switched from 9-42s to 10-46s. It's something I never really gave much thought to before. I have used the same Dean Markley 9-42's for over 14 years, and then a few weeks ago, it occurred to me that since my playing has probably changed a great deal in 14 years, I might benefit from trying something different (OOoooh I'm so adventurous!)

Re: Strings gauges

Currently I use Rogue strings (hey they are cheap and sound good the my rack):
DXMG: 10-46
Hamer Sunburst-Archtop: 10-46
Stealth: 9-42
Charvette: 9-42
Kinv V Pro: probably has 9-42 on it, but will switch it to 10-46.

I may change to a 9-46 guage in the near future on the KV & DXMG. I kind of like the higher strings in the smaller guage, and I like the lower strings to have a little more meat to them. Who knows... Any thoughts?
KV DM PRO, SLSXMG, RRXMG, DXMG, LP P90 Goldtop_GSP1101_RM4: JF SL-OD100_Randall RT2/50_Peavey 4x12 cab
I'm loving the Jaded Faith mods. Going Egnater Dual mod route: Voxless, SL-OD100, Brahma #39, QuickMod GT

Re: Strings gauges

KE2-9s with a 10high E tuned to E
550xl-9s tuned Eb

When I had a Les Paul, I used 11s.

I prefer 10s, but they seem a little inflexible for whammy use on the low end tuned to E.

Re: Strings gauges

9-46 in Eb
10-52 in D
11-70 in C and B

All GHS strings......the 11-70 are Zakk Wylde signatures.

10-46 E,Eb
10-52 D
Ernie Balls
I have had the best luck with Ernie Balls not breaking strings, Boomers rattle a little to much for me.

I've used nothing but GHS Boomers for as long as I can remember - and I call it "jangle", not "rattle"...sounds better that way

10's on my electrics, either E or Drop-D.

Ernie Balls 10-46 tuned to E

Why Ernies? well in the past I'd switch brands to what ever was the cheapest of the name brands.

But I found out that Ernie Ball Stopped using Microsoft software and is not a 100% Linux shop. Got to support my fellow Linux geeks
