Always in their cases with none on top of another. I can do this because I only have three. There are some sweet collections in this thread. How many guitars do I need to own before having to add an addition?

I find it goes the other way: guitars multiply to fill the space available ... and then some.
Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam!
4 on stands, & the KV in it's case, I put the KV in it's case as is most expensive I have & the cat thought the wings were scratching posts.
On a side note I dont think hanging a guitar (verticle) would have any adverse effects. Every guitar store I have ever been to hangs there guitars from Entry Level to Pro Quality.
I think the main thing is to keep regular maintanence on them & they should be fine.

good to see your Rock God Posing Mirror in a convenient location by your amp for checking your form while throwing shapes!

I put mine back in the case almost religiuosly (especially since by 1 yr old got moble and tends to gravitate towards things he can destroy !)

Mine are usually in their cases. (Don't play as much these days) lol! Although I can have as many out on my (2) 7 space racks. (total 14) at any one time. The rest are in their cases in a waterproof, climate controlled, underground vault that's not easy to get to. So, I usually have several out at one time. I have never had my guitars on hanging stands since I bought my first Les Paul Custom in 1975. The new guitar was hanging in Manny's, NY for several weeks, then transfered to a local store for a couple of weeks before I bought it. It had the hanger indentations in the finish and were transfered to the wood. (Les Pauls were heavy then). I guess on hanging it could be the weight of the guitar that can become a factor. I don't like floor stands either unless I'm sitting in the room with the guitar. If I get up it goes in the case. (tripped on a cord/guitar stand while my nice Gretsch was sitting in a floor stand back in 1966) So, I've been trained!
