Re: The official Tall Tales \'o NAMM thread

Tim...excellent review! LOL
It was a pleasure meeting Tim and Eric...truly awesome guys...and Scott, Cujo, Todd, and Kristi all Rock of course too!
It was a great time.
Donny...we only had 7 people in the cab...so no broken records...but what was wild is Brad (XXX) called Todd a few minutes after we all piled in...I think he's clairvoiant (sp).

Chris...people were "trying" to share any guilty pleasures, and Amy ended up reminding me about Warrant...although the only album I own is DRFSR (which I will admit is still great ever since I bought it when I was 9 or 10)...I will occassionally grab my brothers Cherry Pie disc and I will have to admit that I do know the lyrics to uncle tom's cabin and I saw red...and I will sing along when I'm in the car too...now that's METAL

As the cheese metal bands go, Warrant was never that bad I thought, though at a certain point they got a bit silly (Cherry Pie for example) my vote for worst of those cheesy hair band will always go to Winger

I would like to say that it was great hanging out with you guys. It was a blast. Tim, Eric, Todd, Kristi, Joel and Amy were super nice and we all had some big laughs.

It was pretty funny that the cab ride was like $20 to the club, but it only took us about 10 minutes to walk back to the hotel.

Sorry for cutting out quick on Saturday night, but Joe (why do I have to be Mr. Pink?) was beyond drunk and not fealing well.

I awoke around 2 or 3 o'clock to the sound of Mr. Pink wretching his guts out into the toilet. I got a quick chuckle and back to sleep.

It was definitely a good time! I'm still draggin ass today with the lack of sleep. Scott got attacked by a sign at the first bar...the second bar was literally 2 blocks from Champions (the first bar we were at) but the moron cabbie took us WAY outta the way....he was a complete idiot! The cab ride was pretty wild though...Tim, Scott and Cujo gave him lots of shit! I figured either Scott or his buddy were hurtin when I didn't see them after a while at the 2nd place. The band we saw were definitely good (even though they weren't metal )

Yeah, I could have navigated through Indy better than that moron! I was livid. I was more or less paying the chump as a favor to him, because if he stayed around any longer he'd be a statistic. Sadly, the whole thing killed my buzz.

I warned you guys that Pale wasn't metal. But they ARE good. Then again, I AM biased. I mean, the singer and I sat next to each other in Kindergarten.

It's not surprising that you hit that sign. It was very easy to miss. After all it was only 5 feet high, 3 feet wide, and bright yellow

Re: The official Tall Tales \'o NAMM thread

Well, I was begging for someone to score a pass for me, and a JCF bro came through - Hollywood and his brother hooked me up through their connections (they own a studio in Indy - check out the link in his profile). I'd never been to a NAMM event before, so I wasn't too sure what to expect. I thought it was great.

My two goals for the week were: 1) score a pass and go to the event; and 2) meet the other JCF members that attended. I did the first, but alas didn't achieve the second. I went Friday and hung around the Jackson area hoping to spot someone with a JCF tag or shirt, or at least wearing a "Jackson" or old school Charvel logo t-shirt(I had mine on), but didn't see any (I didn't really know what anyone looked like). On Saturday, I'd actually made a square with "JCF" on it and put it in my badge holder on the back, turned it around, and was hoping someone would spot it and yell at me - not so lucky. So I went home thinking I didn't see anyone. Well, when I saw Tekky's pix, I realized that I had seen you guys, I just didn't know who you were!!! Next time I'll know (I guess it isn't back in Indy until 2007 - rats).

I think the Fender, Jackson, and Charvel reps thought I was a stalker as many times as I made the rounds hoping to hook up with you guys. Oh well.

As for the show - outstanding gear. I played a number of the guitars. The Charvel guitars were sweet and set up okay. The USA Jacksons were set up outstanding. I played the snakeskin soloist and it felt like the action was so low the strings were a *#&$ hair off the fretboard - and no buzzing. Same for the torture chamber and some of the others I tried out.

I also through BC Rich has some SWEET axes there. I loved the 10 string biches and other natural maple finished axes. Martin has some unbelievable inlays on some of their acoustic guitars. Too many other booths and items to tell about. All in all, it was great.

Re: The official Tall Tales \'o NAMM thread

The trick to meeting up with us is to make sure one of us has your number. I had just left Peoria later than I wanted, but I had everyone's number who had PM'd it to me. I got a call from Tim and I think Eric when they got there but I was still about an hour or so away. When I got into the convention center, we immediately connected with Tim and Eric. And then connected with Stuka and Cujo at Alcatraz that evening.

Ok, here are some pictures.

This was at about 10:15am on Saturday (or 9:45am on Tekky's watch). From left to right, Stuka, Cujo, Amy, Joel:

Cujo trying to hide his sign apparel:

He tore it off as Scott spun him. Note the look on his face. That is not a sober man

Cujo was not always camera shy. It's funny what canal spells without the C
