Re: Single volume and no tone, or should I drill?

Get a 3/8" Forstner bit and drill yourself a Tone hole. See, the thing is, the guitar has Tone that has to be regulated with a knob, because it's all gushing out at once and it'll run out too quick without a Tone Control

And don't worry if you don't think you can drill the hole properly - neither did I, but my first try with this bit and I got this:

That's a smooooooth hole - no clearcoat chipping.

Just remember to get it spinning before plunging it into the wood. Rest the point on the body where you want the hole, get a firm grip on the drill, level it up, pull the trigger and jam it home.

Please don't deface that guitar with a tone knob.

Get a concentric pot so you don't have to drill any extra holes.

volume/toggle only is the best control layout,
my tone is controlled by my heart and soul through my hands connected to the guitar...

and lots of fat distortion!

Well, people that know how to use them, for one

For that matter, who uses their volume knob for more than full on/full off?

Agreed about the volume knob,Newc...I've got an import double fat strat that I wired the bridge humbucker(Duncan Detonator) to a mini on/off toggle and a momentary switch,no volume,no tone..

Hey,I thought I was the only one up this early...

Buy a volume pedal and put the tone where the volume control is!
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

<font color="aqua">well, people that know how to hook up a "bleed" capacitor to their volume pot so that when you back off the volume for cleaner tones, you don't lose your "clarity" and it won't get muddy on you...

As for the neck not fitting correctly, NOTP was not imagining things as my KE3 body neck holes are not inline with a standard Jackson neck hole pattern therefore I had to slightly elongate the mounting holes for it to fit correctly. The body I have also might be a newer or older one because it did not have a neckplate, it has the counterbored screw ferrules as NOTP also mentioned. See, you're not crazy, bro.. You could always just mount the tone pot in the control cavity without having to drill out. Though, it would be a pain in the ass to keep taking off the cavity cover if you actually want to use it in more than one position.
