• You have a 1 hum Soloist - which pickup and why?

Maple neck thru, Alder wings, OFR. Ebony fretboard with Crosses, LOL! (You guy should know what I'm talking about).

I'm thinking the JB is the all around performer, but I have an old school L500XL, EMG's, Full Shred, Super Distortions at my diposal.

Duncan Custom custom SH/TB 11
In my opinion Seymours best all around pick up, I have it in 2 of my guitars in the bridge and they sound better to me than the JB in my soloist
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Duncan Distortion.
#1 - It's got the Biggest Balls Of Them All!
#2 - You can back off the volume to give it a less-saturated tone closer to a Custom, Pearly Gates, or JB.
#3 - Add a Tone knob (concentric for you uni-hole types ) and you can simulate neck pickup tones by working both knobs.
#4 - No batteries
#5 - You can go He-Man and wire it straight to the jack and use a volume pedal or an on/off pedal.

Never cared for the JB ..

The custom, DD, and the EVH are all great pickups...

If I'm replacing a pickup, I invariably go with EMG 85s as the results are pretty consistant, but I love the JB as well...you can always coil tap it if you want a single coil sound, though in the bridge position that not be ideal!

Hmmm, ala EVH? I really love Alnico II pickups. Good suggestion. I've never given the custom a shot.

Edit: Since this guitar hasn't been drilled for controls yet, I could go straight out. That's how I've used it in the past with the BL L500XL. This is an older "Made in West Germany" L500XL.

Well, I guess it was good enough for Lynch in his 1 hum tiger...

Custom, without a doubt. Though many consider the full shred a neck pickup, I found it works well as a bridge pickup as well, its just not as powerful as the custom. Never tried the EVH or DD, both I hear are great.

EVH are great, good harmonics, warm tone, the only thing is they aren't high output altough becaus eit is a custom pickup you CAN have it wound the way you like ..

EMG... 89. Passive... DiMarzio Super Distortion. A Duncan Custom is also a good choice. JBs are lame!
