• Price disclosure question

Ok, I know the sticky says not to mention dealer prices, but was there ever a decision reached on Custom Shop street prices? Do they also fall under this ruling? I assume they would, but then I've seen a couple of recent posts publicly asking how much a particular Custom order cost the owner.

Perhaps this can be clarified and added to the sticky?

    Re: Price disclosure question

I don't think the custom shop prices should apply to that, at all. It's not like we're saying, we can get this SL2H for 1399 at Newcs Music, and at Denebs music it's 1299. Then again, you have to have rules, so maybe the CS shit should apply to it.

      Re: Price disclosure question

Well, not all dealers offer the same discount on CS models. One may quote a price of $2300* while another might quote a price of $2500* for the same Custom Order.

(* figures are drawn out of thin air only and do not represent any actual prices quoted by anyone for anything)

Maybe it's just me and my paranoia, but I see a problem with posting or asking publicly about how much a Custom Shop model cost. PMs and emails are fine, but to blab out on the board "Hey, (enter dealer name) cut me a sweet deal on a Custom Order for $xxxx" leaves the door open for another dealer to drops hints about "Hey I coulda beat that price".

But that's just me, and I wondered if the Admins had a ruling on that.

no need to make addenda to the ruling; keep it all under your hat.

Sully - Sounds good to me. I hadn't planned on announcing any prices myself; as I said I saw a couple of posts asking someone how much they paid for a Custom Shop order, and wondered about the propriety of such a question before commenting to the asker about it

I thought Ron might've been misquoting a line from the movie The Ten Commandments.

Sorry, Don. Never been a big fan of Metallica. Besides, the movie's been around much longer than the song. ...Not to mention the Bible.

a lot of problems is that if you post them in a public forum. it can be considered a MAP infraction, and posibly get the dealer in trouble.

That's what I don't get. If I as an individual want to spout out what was told to me how is the Dealer liable? Maybe a dealer can explain this?
