Re: Charvel wants your opinion!

Terrible. Why does everyone come up with such cheeZ for shirts? I personally would dig a BASEBALL JERSEY, high quality material, none of the usual cheapo shit like jackson had (remember the CHEAP grey one?) in black with the old charvel logo big on back and small in front. Simple and ~cool~ not silly like a little man.

#1 and 2. Are cool

#3 reminds me of all the 40 year old hoods I see riding around on bikes here.

#2 since its the only one with a hotrod on it, if I thought a hotrod was a pushbike, I'd think a hotrod guitar was a rickenbacker!
and the guitars are the hotrods anyway, anything less then a roots blown bigblock just isnt charvel standard

Re: Charvel wants your opinion!

gotta disagree on the paul frank thing, to an extent. the designs of the shirts may be smiliar in the retro 70s style, but from what i've seen on his site (thanks for the link, btw), there really isn't anything on there that's like these designs.

what also kinda funny is that we have a paul frank store here in dallas, and i stopped in there (it's part of a mall) and liked a lot of the designs, and died laughing when i saw a shirt that had a print that was VERY similar to the charvel logo! seriously! i can't for the life of me remember what the logo spelled out., but it was in the same style.

i'm kinda surprised that #3 has been hated the most; tommy's got a bike like that!

Re: Charvel wants your opinion!

Okay... #1 reminds me of the A-Team van. I love it.
The #2 shirt is my favorite, that one rocks!
Don't care for #3, but because it's so odd I'd probably wear it.
The 70's brown color is awesome, I get a kick out of that. A faded green would be neat too.

My only request... pretty please make a small size for the ladies! Like one of those babydoll tees, or just a women's size small or even a tank. Thanks!!

Re: Charvel wants your opinion!

I think Charvel needs a new graphic designer (i'm available hehe) anyway on topic, they missed the whole point with those designs. while the second is close they are all off. if the line they want to use is "the original hot rod guitar" they need to have a hot rod or perhaps a cartoonish view of a supercharged big block engine...not a van or a muscle car or a lowerider bike. i would do this...on the front of the shirt, dead center about 3/4 of the way up a charvel logo small say 4 1/2" long. then on the back you have your "original hot rod...." slogan and something like a hot rod '32 ford or 1940 ford with some flames perhaps or just a supercharged big block engine perhaps with some flames shooting out of zoomie style headers. also, the colors are not what i would choose to go with the word "hot rod" either some are ok but those odd shades only "fit" certain people so the market will be thinner. you can do wild "retro" colors but you always need the basics black, white, red and a dark blue since those sell the most. being a car guy and a graphic designer i see tons of ways that they went wrong and tons of ways they could go back in the right direction. also, t-shirts with big logos/designs on the front are simply lame for lack of a better word. big designs are for the back of the shirt IMO, the front as i said should just be a small charvel logo, right to the point. the back is where to have your fun with the design. also if they want a touch of a "retro" vibe, ringer t's are where it's at for that (with the dark ring of another color around the neck and sleeves).

I don't care for any of them. I'm with those who want just the logo in a black/white, white/black t-shirt configuration.

For just these designs I like 1 and 2 the best.

1. Just reminds me of late 70's early 80's southern ca. I keep looking to see if Spicoli is driving the Van.

2. Runs with the Hotrod theme of Charvel.

Personally I would prefer a small Charvel logo over the left breast side of the shirt and then a larger logo across the back.

I would also like to see the smaller logo on a golf/polo shirt so that I could wear it to work.

couldn't disagree more. i look at back designs like i would look at at a back tattoo; why do it if you'll never see it? the designs aside, i've always disliked a small logo or whatever in front with a big design on the back.

i'm assuming that's what kind of shirts these would be, judging by what one currently sees in the stores.

you guys are some hardcore change resistant dudes, that's for sure. granted, i don't see anything wrong with the simple gold charvel logo on the front, and that being that for an option, but ugh, if that was the only option you had, that'd suck, imo. these designs, on the other hand, could be aimed at younger audiences, and i think we'd agree that there's nothing wrong with that.

Very cool

Think about this.....aside from us who visit and frequent here and Charvel Central, we make up a good portion of players, enthusiasts, and collectors of Jackson's and Charvel's.

Sadly, with very few exceptions, Jackson and Charvel are no longer household words associated with guitar and music in general.

This will be good publicity and marketing for J/C in a big way, and may help to reintrouduce these guitars to a younger crowd, which is sadly lacking.

I have and wear both Jackson logoed and Charvel logoed t-shirts around here. Do many people know what the hell they are

But, if they ask, I'll tell em' my opinion of them, that they are some of the best guitars ever made and currently made IMO

Any publicity is good publicity.....this will only further propel the names into the present, and hopefully future players.

I think they are all pretty cool but I agree with what mike was saying about have a proper vintage american car with hot rod flames on the back.

Whatever you do you will definately need plain tee shirts with just the logo.
