Good answer Mike, thank you. You rock and I know your work is only getting better as time goes by. When you consider the feedback you only get stronger. We do love what you are doing and we want to see more of it. I would love to have some of your work, hope one day.

So on this note: I mentioned this before and I'm not sure why is that no one doing it: I would personally love to have a nice flame maple top with transparent art on it. This way you have best of both worlds, the beauty of the wood and a nice graphics. Like Ibanez did this in a basic (but tasty way), why not to take it further?

Udachi. If you need a second set of eyes with the translations - I'm happy to help, anytime.

Alex,
Actually there has been some discussion of doing some transparant art on flamed maple top. They have asked me a couple times. But I almost find it a sin to paint of such beautiful wood. But there will be a few coming your way for sure. I will seee if I can find the stuff I did using the generator and post at some time in the future.

Mike you are now limited to painting just puppies and tulips on Jacksons so you don't hurt our feelings. Music and art are all about avoidance and sensorship don't you know.

if one grew up in the USA this might make sense. See, for me as a Russian it made an entirely different sense

[/ QUOTE ]

Hi Alex,

Art work, even graphics on guitars, is very subjective and gives a different impression to everyone who sees it. It does not surprise me that we would each have a different take on this particular piece because of our different back grounds. "Russian Work Camp" and "Gen. Anesthesia" are both historically based pieces (at least from my perspective) and are subject to ones perspective on history.

There was some earlier discussion on using swastikas for kill markings. The swastika is generally considered an offensive symbol. However, used in its historical context I do not find any thing wrong. On the Gen. Anesthesia, I would want the swastika kill markings for historical accuracy.

I am aware of the German plight after the war and the significance of the phrase; I just got a broader sense out of the art work where yours was more specific. And there is no problem with either view as far as I can see.

Mike is a master artist and that we have such discussions show how powerful and compelling his work is. In the end, “Russian Work Camp” is one more great piece of work from Mike on a kick-ass Jackson guitar!

umm.. the iron cross predates the german army by centuries

as does the swastika, but it was too closely associated with the nazis. the iron cross was a medal given to soldiers long before WW2
so i dont know how THOSE could get you in trouble over there

sorry, guess I've simply been to lazy to look up hakenkreuz in the dictionary... swastika was the symbol I was actually talking about.

this happens when you think you can translate yourself, they will somehow get what you mean...

the iron cross is no prob at all. think my granni does have one lying around, too...
but you're not allowed to wear nazi symbols in public over hear.
AFAIK the swastika actually came from the inca long before the first nazi showed up, but anyway they're handled as nazi signs over here.

but that's only here I guess.

great piece of art anyway!!
I like the metal look of it. always liked this style of graphic...

yea, they are closely associated with nazis and that is why people dont like seeing the symbol (which is actually a mirror image of the TRUE swastika)
people imedialy think you a nazi if your are seen even close to the swastika =P

"nazi symbols in public over hear" - the nations that lost 20...40 million of people to nazis during the WWII still can't quite forget the experience. Even if it is not formally forbidden to wear it in public, that would fly like a lead baloon for most in that part of the world. That's why I personally think it is better not to toy with it, just in respect for those who are dead and guaranteed our freedom today by their sacrifice. But having said that - I don't see a problem with the bomber graphics, it does not imply anything bad, just the facts that did take place.

totally agree on what you said though!!
people still feel very strong about this subject (good thing IMO) and some might get hurt with a mindless use of things like this.

but considering the bomber look of this guitar it should be clear it is meant more historical.

but I didn't want to make this thread political, just thought it was interessting to see how different people handle things like that in different countries.

it is beautiful and everything, but I think I'd not dare giggin with it on tour or something...
