Vanilla or chocolate? Why can't we like both? I do.

I like both, but I prefer vanilla.

you are free to disagree.......but you'd be wrong.

Then answer me this. You actually think if EVH had a Charvel EVH Art Series Strat, and a Fender Vintage strat he would sound the same playing both? Cause if so I think you been hittin the pipe

Thats pretty intriguing Mike, what about Gold vs Chrome and Black?

[/ QUOTE ]

And if you think EVH picked up your guitar through your amp and your settings and his tone would be indenticle to yours then your the one supplying the crack pipe ..

As far as different floyds, I'm sure there is a difference from Chrome to black just from the chemical compositions

I must be hittin' the pipe, too, because he would absolutely sound the same playing both!

personally, tone comes from YOU! If EVH played a bolt on and a neckthrough side by side, he'd still sound like EVH. I just prefer the "feel" of a neckthrough, that's it.

[/ QUOTE ]
I don't agree with this, its about what you have on your guitar. Yea EVH would sound the same cause likely then not he's using the same specs on both. How you play is a part of your tone but the instrument has alot to do with it as well. But I would say if you took two same specced guitars, but one was bolt on and one was neck thru and had the same guy play both, you wouldn't hear much if any difference.

I have a DK1 and Custome Shop Soloist that are the same except for one being a neck-thru and the other a bolt-on. There is a difference. Not major difference but it is noticable.

I prefer a bolt-on. IMO, it feels more "solid" than a neck-thru.

Re: Neck-Thru vs. Bolt On

i've only ever had bolt-ons. aside from the cost, if i'm unhappy with the sound, i alter my fx processor's settings. besides, i have no intention of spending 3 grand that i don't have. i'm happy enough with the sustain i already have on my jackson dxmg plugged into a boss gt-6.

Should I even bring up set necks? Long tenon vs. short tenon?

This subject comes up now and then on here. I started a similar thred a while back and man did it get heated!

Like some of the other guys said I think it all depends on the total construction, pups, bridge, etc... Neck is only part of it.

Oh yeah, I prefer a maple fingerboard!

hehehehehehehehehehe!

I like vanilla with a little bit of chocolate on top.
Especially after hitting the pipe.
Just one more guitar!
