OK, moved this conversation from the For Sale area. OK, we are all concerned about shipping guitars in G&G Cases. I do know when you order a custom Jackson and get the G&G case option, be carefull, because they are not Form Fitting, the form fitting ones are even more money, so consult with your dealer on that one. Myself, I ordered my custom all mahogany soloist with a fitted G&G case and will have it delivered, makes me a little nervous to say the least. Any thoughts? Jack.

Re: G&G Cases-Shipping
Most of the G&G cases I've seen are cut for a standard strat-style guitar with a flat headstock. There isn't enough room for a tilt-back headstock, and the tip on the headstock winds up sitting on the case floor. Not good.
Furthermore, the guitar can slide back and forth in the case, and when it does, the tip hits the top of the case. That's how these guitars are getting broken in shipping. One six foot drop on that end...game over.
The center pocket form fit G&G cases would be a wise upgrade. I have one for my Charvel here, and it looks like there would be enough room for the tilt back headstock ( I don't have any pointies here right now). More importantly though, the guitar cannot move within the case.
I would suggest to you guys to get either the standard Jackson SKB-style plastic case, or upgrade to the G&G Form Fit case. The regular G&G won't do.

Re: G&G Cases-Shipping
With mine being a death angel chuck, wouldn't it need to have a form fit G&G? I can't imagine the strat cut G&G case would work for a odd shaped guitar like the DA. I admit I have no idea though since this is my first custom.

Re: G&G Cases-Shipping
FYI, The Jackson SKB cases are a problem also for the tilt back pointies. The top of the headstock wedges up into the padding right next to the inner wall of the ABS plastic, way to close IMO. Like Chuck said, one drop and bang. I've got 2 Soloists and I even have to be careful when I put it back in the case to clear the point on the headstock. Even though the SKB cases are a tougher material, they transfer more energy because of it. Jackson needs to take a hard look at this. I would imagine our dealers here can have more input on this subject.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.

Re: G&G Cases-Shipping
My 1993 Archtop Soloist is in a form fitted G&G case and the headstock has plenty of clearance, but that was then, I don`t know what they make now? crossing my fingers. For what I am paying for the G&G fitted upgraded case, it better be a smokin nice case Jack.

Just looked at my G&G case again with my guitar in it, and I have to say, the headstock is sitting right on the bottom of the case, that is bad news for shipping. They could solve this with better neck support. Jack.
[/ QUOTE ] That's how my first 01 got damaged. The point was damn near resting on the bottom of the case. Add in a smidge of the UPS apes and it got cracked. I had my next one sent in a plastic RR1T case. No problem.Scott

I bought the NAMM Death Angel from Matt's Music and yeah, the Custom G&G case was built specifically for the axe. Fits like a glove, nice and snug and it CANNOT move at all. You'll pay for a case when it comes to Death Angels. They are Custom Shop only and I beleive your dealer will take care of this, they wont fit in any other case that I know of.Hear the universe scream
