Re: Archtop Rhoads ?

Shreddermon, thanks for the explaining, I actually was thinking of a soft archtop myself (but I didn't know it lol)...
I was also trying to decide whether such a guitar should have a recessed floyd or a non recessed one... Any input as to what would best fit an archtop Rhoads?

Well, I would have done just that a few years ago, but since I got my RR1 and have learned to use and set my floyd, I really love those fuckaroundgadgets

Eh. I don't like how they feel, I don't like how they make the strings feel all loose, I don't like how they are so unstable with aggresive bends, I don't like the way they sound...

Maybe it was not meant to be but I use all 5 springs, and I must say that the bending problem, while still present of course, is almost fixed... but I must say I'm more of a noisy floyd user rather than a very technical melodic one (I'm a wanker, YES, haha), so I don't need my floyd to be easy to pull-up or push-down... But I still love fixed bridge axes, it's not like it's a handicap or anything

I was asking the recessed vs non-recessed question 'cause it seems there's a difference in feel... For example, I got used to the fact that the strings are so close to the body on my RR1 (recessed floyd, am I right?) but in the future, I'd rather have the strings a bit higher... would a non-recessed floyd be just that?

Yup, correct on all counts.

I much prefer non-recessed Floyds for that very reason. First of all, it's a more comfortable playing position for me. With recessed Floyds, my wrist ends up in a really weird position, which feels inhibiting on my freedom of movement. Then there's the other thing: I always had trouble with the volume knob on other guitars - I kept hitting it with my pinky, and the volume would be rolled off with each chord. With the strings higher off the body, this isn't that big a problem anymore. It's even better on an archtop body, because when the volume knob is recessed into the top, it almost completely clears the strings of the non-recessed trem.

Thanks for the details!
Still no pictures of an archtop KV/RR?
