    There's also the LP Jrs - those came in Tobacco Burst but had solid colors.
    However, 90% of bursts are done with at least some figured top - the others, like the aforementioned Silverburst, and Jake E Lee's PurpleBurst (IIRC) were solids.

    However, the thing to remember is that the burst will not be as smooth in appearance because of the solid primer underneath to hide all traces of wood grain. The yellow center of a Tobacco Burst will be a fairly bright yellow compared to being done as a transparent finish with visible wood grain.

          I have a Jackson strat with a trans-burst over a non-figured body. I'm not sure what kind of wood this is, it's definitely not very "busy", but I think it looks nice:
