Hey guys,

I want to get a Death Angel I know the only way to get one is through the Custom Shop. I have never done a custom shop before. Is the price on the website the actual price or does the dealer you take it to lower it?

Also, do you pay upfront or do you do payments? I'm kind of nervous about doing this because it will be a lot of money. But the Death Angel is a must have for me.

I want the carved top black one I've seen on the Jackson website with the one hum and flat mounted floyd.

I know unfortunately its not a production model, but how much do you all think it costs and how do you do the whole custom thing?

And it root beer a PC1 only finish?

Thanks for any help you guys give me.

The price on the web site is list price, not the price a dealer will give you.

Payment schedule is determined by the dealer. I believe most ask for a percentage down (like 50%), with the remainder on delivery.

To get a custom shop, choose a dealer (like those on the dealer page here on the JCF), and they will order it for you.

As for cost, I would say figure around 70% of list, give or take.

Root Beer is a PC1 only finish, and I do not believe it is available for other custom shop orders. Of course, chlorine has appeare on certain limited runs, so there may be some flexiility; but I doubt it for a one-off.

That doesn't make sense... the custome shop should be able to do any finish you can pay for.

No offense to anyone, but I wouldn't accept any answer from anyone on the board unless they're a dealer. Unfortunately there are many misunderstandings that can be attributed to a lack of information. My suggestion would be to contact one of our dealers here and work through the process with them. (I suggest one of our dealers because I'm sure the volume of custom shop and USA Jacksons are among the largest)

I was basing my answer on this thread:
PC1 Finishes

Maybe that doesn't apply to custom shop models; it is hard to say one way or the other. Like Todd said, the best thing to do would be to pick a dealer to order the guitar through, and have them ask Jackson if that color is available.

And then tell all of us.

I agree with Tekky, but I guess it doesn't hurt to get some background before you start using up other people's time.....

I have 2 orders in at the moment, and from what I understand you can more or less get what you want (copyrighted images and no Gibson shapes aside) if you're prepared to pay for it. The final price seems to come in around 30-35% below list......

Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Thanks for the help, neilli was right on the money. I don't want to waste a dealer's time when maybe I can get some backround on it here.

Does anyone know if the Death ANgel might make a come back as a production model? I know the basic one I made on the website was 4000 dollars. YIKES

Get it in bolt-on and cut the price but not the quality.

He's referring to not allowing PC1 finishes on other production line guitars. They've definitely done the PC1 colors on many customs (there's a chlorine Rhoads custom shown on the website right now) and even allow it for special dealer runs.

I've got a bolt on Archtop Death Angel on order
When are people going to understand that the neck thru/bolt-on has very little to do with how well the guitar plays. There are about a billion other factors that go into it. And for me the price increase on neck thru isn't really worth it especially if your getting something expensive like a archtop death angel.

If you don't mind a bolt on Helldogg you can get them with the scalloped horn and heel which basically makes them the same as a neck thru as far as fret access. No upcharge on the horn/heel scalloping.

While we have several good dealers, I'd recommend Matt simply because thats who I ordered my Death Angel from. He's a great guy to deal with.

One could argue though, Chris, that if one was to spend said 'gigantic' amount, one is better set with going for his total dream (neck-thru) instead of still skimping off on it, by getting a bolt-on design, which would add to a lower price, but all in all the price would still be highly elevated.

I.o.w.: if you're going to pay that much money, make sure you get your heart's desire or pass up on it, period.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

GOR, This is true but he hasn't given any indication that the neck thru is one of the things he feels is necessary. I'd get a neck thru if the price was the same sure, but it wasn't something that I felt was part of my "dream". If he has no preference I think its important to note that there is not a big difference in the two, particularly with the option of the scalloped heel/horn. If the neck thru is something he feels (as do some here) passionately about then by all means he should get that. As you said no reason to skimp if your getting a custom. Though everyone has limits to what they can spend....
