• inlay scallop question re dinky w/sustainer

I really want to scallop my DK2S, but I don't want to lose the sharkfin inlays. Does anyone know how deep they go?

No idea, I can tell you this when you order a Warmoth scalloped neck, they cannot put inlay on their necks. Their scallops are approximately 1/8" deep.

Yeah I had a Warmoth guitar with a scalloped board, and all I could get was dots...maybe GMW?

Once I saw a completely scalloped model 6 with different depth for the two edges, and the sharkfins still were visible...

this is why i wont do a custom scallop job on anything that has inlays other than dots.

A scalloped fretboard, in may experience, gives you a better control of the string, expecially for the bending, vibrato and legato...

I LOVE scalloped necks...unfortunately few luthiers know how to scalloped an inlayed and bound fretboard, VERY difficult...

It also gives you better speed IMHO, due to the fact the flesh of your finger never touches the fretboard thus reducing any friction.

How hard is it to not push the string way the hell sharp?

If you've played with jumbo frets, they accomplish a similar task (scallops are just even more effective). It is very easy IMO to adjust to a scalloped neck

Same here, although I must admit that I've heard a lot of people say the opposite.

I play normally and I never go sharp...I think it's a myth, you can't go sharp as long as you don't want.
