Re: Ever seen a RR with a stop tailpiece?

Chris Holmes' RRs had stopbars, as does the Kevin Bond RR.
There've been a few - look through the Gallery.

Guess I should have specified tune-o-matic/traditional stoptail combo....that would eliminate the KB Rhoads. I'll give the gallery a look over.

Didn't find much in the gallery, but did find this at another site:

That looks pretty good! I don't like V-plates and also don't like how the string-through pattern doesn't match the V-shape of the guitar. And I'm a fan of stoptail/tune-o-matics....so me likes.

Actually, the Bond model doesn't have the traditional stopbar. It's got the TP6 fine-tuning tailpiece.

That guitar is owned by Jani and was built as a replica of one of Chris Holmes' original Rhoads (the one that got turned into the zebra 'dinky' V).

As far as I know, all of Chris's Rhoads had stop tail-pieces.

excuse my ignorance, but when the guitars have tailpieces, do they have straight necks like a recessed floyd, or is it angled like on a string-thru/non-recessed floyd ?

Re: Ever seen a RR with a stop tailpiece?

Only difference between stringthrough and stopbar is where the balls are - everything else is the same.

That's my Jack Frost RR. Here are my other stop-tail RRs:

I also used to have this one:

I find them very easy to operate when changing pickups for example. Besides mine there is of course the other RR that Chris Holmes had:

Usually they have angled necks, like a Les Paul. Though, on Carvins, they have straight necks and no tilt, like my SC90.

Did that Jack Frost RR have EMGs at one time? If so, I saw that guitar in the local Guitar Center here a few years ago. I thought the price was a little high. I think someone told me he bought it back, but maybe he sold it again.

Re: Ever seen a RR with a stop tailpiece?

Yes - It originally had EMGs. Actually only the bridge pickup at first but then Jack had it modded.
I put Duncans on there when I got it. It's a great playing and sounding guitar. Jack had it for sale at GC for a while and then took it to JCGuitars. And yes it was expensive but it was a have-to-have for me as it's a replica of RR0849.

Cool. I thought that was the same guitar I saw in the store, and I know Jack lives locally around me. Glad it's in good hands now.
