It is indeed a Jackson Marshall stack guitar, a custom shop creation. Did it have both speaker boxes? It's so cool you can play it with one cab, and the second cab is also attachable so you get the 'full' stack effect!!

I believe the Custom Shop made 3 of them, one of which was donated by Nigel to the Sterling Ball Foundation last year and auctioned on Ebay

I saw Nigel playing it on a Spinal Tap clip on Headbanger's Ball a few weekends ago. Both cabs in full effect! I can't remember the song, but he must've played 20-something different guitars during the video.

Yep, there was three of them. I think one was given away in a Guitar World contest in the mid '90s.

The third one went to Michael Doyle, who wrote The History of Marshall.

I think I can shed some light on this. I bought some Jackson catalogs within the last few months and the seller said he would also send me a surprise. He sent me a letter dated Dec.3, 1998 that stated there were three of these guitars made. One went to Nigel, one to Jim Marshall, and the third went to the winner of a guitar entry contest in Guitar World. He also included two actual photos of the guitar as well as photocopies of the April 1992 issue of Guitar World which shows Nigel with the guitar and the rest of Spinal Tap on the cover. The giveaway contest was called The Ultimate Giveaway. The letter also states that this guitar went on to be sold through Christie's and he tried to find out who bought it, however Christie's does not release that info. Also included was a copy of the program from Christie's dated August 26, 1993 with a description of the guitar inside it as well as a small picture.
Hopes this helps.

I could never usnderstand why they waste readers' time and money by putting such a joke guitarist on the cover. Nigel Tufnel and Spinal Tap, on the other hand, are the greatest!
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

Yep, thats the issue I was refering to. Apparently the giveaway guitar went eventually to Christie's to be auctioned off. I have no idea what it sold for.

that lesson with Nigel changed the way I play guitar. I realised it's more than just your hands on the strings - who would've thought facial expressions could have such an effect on your playing
