Yeah, I see a lot of potential in it also dude.

Thanx again for shipping them out.

I'll really be interested in hearing the newer stuff.

You're a very tasty guitar player DM. I dig your solos, lotsa character and emotion. I detect quite a Queensrychian solo feel on some of them.

Even Geof Tate can't get a good contract now dude. That style is over with. Sad, cuz that's the stuff I enjoy most.

I have a hard time writing in Evilution as I don't write the way Bill likes. Which is a more modern Arch Enemy thing. I tend to write more power metallish, like a Queensryche and slayer thing.

Those bands aren't doing so well, and they ARE the masters... Sigh... I hope I can change my ways. hehe..

i'd rather try to change the public...yes i went to the poison show this year, and it was packed...18,000 plus, there is a market for this stuff, it's just getting people to realize it still exists...d.m.

              Re: devane

The only people that can really change the mass publics opinion is the media, and they don't really support the material we like.

Poison played here and didn't come close to packing a 5000 seat hall even though they were giving tickets away. We've had several other big tours through here from that era/genre and they had the same problem.

Queensryche plays here and sells around 1700 seats... Same with Priest. And all of them attract quite an older crowd

Young kids don't really seem to dig the older stuff stuff even when they hear it.. Yeah, possibly because they don't get exposed to it enough.

My Girlfriend is 22 and I'm exposing her to new (old) music everyday and she "sorta" likes the old stuff. But, she still really prefers mostly newer stuff. It seems to appeal to the average kid more for some reason, maybe just conditioning I guess. But, I think that older sound/style is getting dated, that's all it is I think.

I like it still myself. But, even to me, it seems strange when I'm listening to metal choice and it goes from Sick of it All, or Korn to an old Queensryche or whatever tune, the Queensryche sounds really dated and old.

Kids look at it like they're watching a black and white Andy Griffith show, compared to the Terminator movie in living color. Hehe...

                  Re: devane

c.m. true, but ive gotten good response out of the high school kids here in marietta...i agree they're conditioned more towards the new stuff but the rcord companies are scrambling because the new stuff doesn't sell like the old stuff did...hence, no packed arenas...i think everything runs in cycles and we're getting due again...i'm not saying bringing back day-glo green or anything, just more of a focus on melody...the new disturbed album seems to be moving in that direction so all may be good...i think it's selling well...i'm just not one for "rap-rock"....i think korn is killer, and so is orgy...but i think with some support from the media there's room for what you'd call "classic metal"...d.m.

                    Re: devane

I could only hope you are right. I've groomed myself all my life to play that type of metal and now have suddenly little purpose it seems.

Hey, I have to say, I was always impressed at the 20 yr old kids that came to our shows and knew the words to the Savatage and Slayer tunes we did... But, they were definitely not the norm.

I think that arena viewing of musical acts in general is not a happening thing as it used to be. When we were young, I know I lived at the local 20,000 seat coliseum watching all the cool bands of the time. Many kids nowdays just wanna go to raves and house mix clubs. Bleh...

we gotta work on the media...if we band together and do this who knows what will change...a club gig is good but i wouldn't want to see kiss in a club...a lot of kids haven't been exposed to a "big show" and i think they don't know what they're missing...btw my wife's nephew is a big ozzy fan, his friend used to make fun of it til he heard it...now he's a big ozzy fan too...andrew wk was cool but way too repetitive to matter...we need to get good songs with good playing back out there...i think it'll make a lot of people happy...d.m.
