Re: Fess Up...

Believe it or not I´ve never sold a guitar or amp!!!
So I have a lot of guitars to sell before I have to sell my most beloved ones.

Re: Fess Up...

I do have a few guitars that that would never part with but I'm glad to say that I have never parted with anything that I regretted. If find something I like I just save up for it or sell my unused equipment.
Damn, I love this Interweb.

charvel strat serial # 1601. bret was kind enough to sell it to ne, then a monthafter i bought it, we find out my girl was almost 4 months pregnant, she 's skinny, and she was still having small periods which they say can happen during pregnancy, we had nohealth insurance, my company got thrown into oncoming traffic involving 112k profit, then a miscarriage, then time off from work for her after that, car payments, cell bills, rent, that were all not mine as a matter of fact, add in the medical bills, and bye bye 1601, the guitar that got me off my ass after almost a 3 year drought from playing. that guitar and elvis among a few others were guitars i would live on the street to keep, but it was not i who those guitars got sold for. if i knew what was coming, i would have never bought it. bad timing all around. mygood luck meter has been fully used up, so the last quarter of my life is oing to be a toughone i think.

1990 Warbird Warrior. I raved about always wanting one, then sold it.
Of course, the plan at the time was to get a Custom Shop Warrior with that graphic (and Jenna as the pinup) but since they said "No Jenna", I went with what I went with

JCF01 and 02, of course. Never did think I'd sell them.

I'm TRYING to keep from selling my LP Standard, but I rarely play it. When I do, it's like an old friend you haven't seen in years. Then I start wishing it had a Floyd and 24 frets and didn't weigh a ton, and go back to my NASL

I used to swear by Ibanez RG 550's and 560's.
Then I got my hands on a USA Jackson and it was bye-bye Ibanez.
Fortunately I still have one Ibanez left. It was orignaly my wifes, so I won't part ways with it unless she says it's cool.
Funny thing is, she never plays it at all.
I actualy pull it out of the case every month or so.
The original Ibanez edge trem from 87 just rocks.
Still smooth as silk.

Oh man, the guitars and gear I regret selling is way to long to list, but most of the guitars were Hamer USA guitars, man I miss alot of those ones. I really miss my VHT Pittbull CLX 100 also, very early serial # also. Yes, I too have many times said this is the one, why we do that is beyond me. Jack.

Re: Fess Up...

I´ve never sold anything I´ve regretted in that way. I guess I know pretty quick if something´s staying or not. I´ve sold a couple of kinda nice pieces, yes, but nothing I really loved in the first place. I hate the thought of ever having to sell off my keepers, though... but I guess you never really can be safe from hard times.

I've only sold my inferior guitars.
Which would be my first electric, an Epiphone G-310 SG, which wouldn't stay in tune and sounded bad, and my Grass Roots Explorer (basically a big pile of plywood).
Both of them I bought used, and I didn't regret selling them at all.

I've never sold a Jackson though, and don't plan to.

Re: Fess Up...

I recently sold my #1 back to the kid who sold her to me. His mother helped him buy it, but he was too afriad to play it because it was so nice. I bugged him about selling it, and one day he did. It is my most favorite and best playing Jackson out of the 25+ (mostly customs) that I've owned. A few months after he sold me the guitar, his mother died of cancer. That was a couple years ago. Lately he'd been wanting to have that guitar back, more and more. Sentimental value and stuff. The decision to sell her back to him was heartbreaking, the fact that I knew how much this guitar meant to him back when he sold it was too, and how much the guitar meant to me broke my heart more than I can imagine when I finally fulfilled the promise of not selling it to anyone but him came full circle.

I've never flipped a guitar and hyped it as "my #1" or the best I've played, or whatever. I've always been honest about where the guitar stood in my collection (My top 3, closet queen, fair player, or not quite my thing). I can honestly say I've never hyped a guitar and flipped it, ever.

I think a few of the forum members here can attest to that, notably Genebaby with my Model 88 or Archtop with his custom AT. Most of my other Jacksons sold on ebay to non-members.
