Outrageous is probably pushing it a bit, but yeah they're not cheap (my 2 orders are both over $3000)....

No stratheads at the moment, but in 2006, who knows?

Could you get a soloist with a bolt on neck?

He MIGHT be able to get a strathead being in Australia. Remember Toby's Hot Rod Flame strathead Charvel?....That was a strathead from the custom shop, and the only reason he was able to get it was because he was from Australia as well.

That'd basically be a dinky....still no strathead though.

Is a dinky just a soloist with a bolt on neck?
I like bolt ons because if the neck breaks you can put a new one, maore security.

Hey, Tiger90, use the online dealers, rather than aussie shops. They won't rip you off, at least. The guitars in Australia are like 30% more expensive than in US, adjusted for exchange rates. I think, it's a simple rip-off.

Here is what I was talking about ...Toby's CS Charvel WITH a strathead. And I was wrong, he's from Switzerland, but I am pretty sure that you CAN order a strathead from outside the US. For some reason I think that the patent or whatever only holds true within our borders.

wow. I'm not a huge fan of stratheads, neither of rosewood-dot-boards and I don't really dig gold hardware, but this one looks just great...
anyone got an explanation?
tremstick give-away (performer series trem)

Re: Custom shop prices

That is a great looking guitar BUT: I seem to remember there were quite alot of politics around that guitar as it was ordered before the FMIC takeover, and delivered after. From what I recall, there was some doubt about J/C completing the order: It was only permitted because the guitar was leaving the USA, but my understanding is from that point on, no customer ordered stratheads would be permitted, wherever you are....

You may also want to check out a PC1, since they now come with a strathead. More beefy neck than a Dinky, but very nice.
