Re: What\'s your favorite string set for B tuning?
zakk wylde ghs 10-60's on an esp lynch baritone guitar. They are friggin sweet! They last for quite a while, feel good when playing, and sound the way I need them to.
As far as tuning to B goes, I feel tuning that in order to fully get the best tone, you need to use a 7 string or a baritone. I have tried tuning low with a USA soloist and a set of 12-70's and the tone was ok. I played a baritone with a set of 10-60's and it was amazing. The tone was so much better. I really feel that, in order to get the most use of low tuning (which can be quite metal with the right technique and amp settings), you need to use a 7 string or a baritone.
The only problem with a baritone is you are pretty much stuck using a low tuning without a high e string. If you use a 7 string, you can play stuff in low tuning and stuff in standard tuning.
