I really dig the rosewood, dots and binding thing. Especially if it's brazilian rosewood. My old Student AT had a brazilian board and it was just as dense and glass like as any ebony board I've owned/played. I'd give my left and right nut for this one.

I am not a fan of Firebirds. To be honest, they might be my least favorite body style of all. Nonetheless, that guitar rocks in a very hard way, and I can appreciate it for that. And, quite frankly, as long as it turned out exactly how the customer spec'd it, that's all that matters.

agree that is one great looking bird....

Dave (origianl owner) also custom ordered a Floyd version of that one....talk about a super cool pair.

yup, I saw the Floyd one also, but I'm not really a Floyd guy. they are both gorgeous guitars.

THIS is a bookmatched top, that one isn't even remotely close...That guitar is awesome nevertheless!

for me, it needs to be dots on birds and sharkies on explorers. i'm weird that way!

I disagree. Trans blue is a finish that cuts down on the reflective effects of figured tops in different light. Amber reflects different in many different lighting situations. sometimes one side looks like the negative of the other with amber in certain lighting. Book matched means that the wood was split down the center and opened like a book. If it weren't book matched that would mean that they used two different pieces of wood all together. That is not the case in this guitar. It may not look like the exact match but it is IMO. Nice SL2 btw!

I'm with you on the inlays George! It does make sense. To me anyway.

                        Re: I generally favor Charvels...

Bud and Samb are right about the colors. My Warmoth is amber sunburst and from certain angles the bookmatch can look off. In actuality its pretty damn near perfect. There is one light figure spot near the bridge but otherwise its very close to a AAAA top. As samb said, bookmatch doesn't refer to the look but rather how the top is cut, it either is or isn't. If it was two different pieces of wood (IE not a bookmatch) it wouldn't look near as nice as that bird does. Which btw that is one fantastic guitar. Total class. And I agree it has to be Rosewood and dots. The firebird is just not a sharky guitar IMO and Ebony looks too..I dunno it just wouldn't go right with the wood, the binding. Perfectly designed custom IMO. I can only hope mine turns out so well.

I love the freehand logo. If I ever order a custom shop Jackson, it will have a freehand logo for sure.

the sad thing is we'll never get to order one of these again. no Gibby shapes any longer, unless FMIC sells Jackson...

That is perfect the way it is!! I love Brazillian Rosewood and MOP Dots. 1 Hum is all you nead. That has to have some serious chunk!! My next CS Jackson will be short scale, and probably set neck, all mahogany and 1 hum. Tunamatic Stopbar. Jack.
