• Re: Any model lineup change in 06?

Um......I think the point made above was that Jackson would have delivered for Alexi, but that message was not the message his management got from a distributor who was probably pissed that he was about to loose his position as the Jackson distributor.

Whatever, he's playing Jackson clones and signed with ESP for the moment, and that's life - move on......

This is the last time I'm explaining the Alexi deal (this has to be at least the 5th time). Yes, his guitars were stolen. Yes, he tried to contact Jackson to get replacements - through the only open channel they knew of: their distributor. He did so during a time in which we were CHANGING distributors. This was within the first month or so. The "rumor" that his manager heard, from the pre-existing distributor, was that they would no longer be able to get Jackson guitars in that part of the world. He heard wrong. By the time he heard from me, he already had the guitars he needed for his tour. So, a disgruntled distributor gave them inaccurate information and not having the time/desire to research the info, they did what anybody else would do: they got some guitars for the tour. He needed custom Jackson guitars. Had he been able to go to a shop and buy what he needed, who knows what he'd be playing today. There's the story. Once in a while, a few of you should give us the benefit of the doubt: we're not idiots. Well,.... LOL!

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh good. Now I don't feel so bad knowing that it's not just no-name hobbyists like me having trouble getting a Jackson through the distribution network.

Actually, Christian Olde Wolbers played guitar before he played bass, Dino just didn't want to be in a two-guitar band. Now that Dino's been out of the band, Christian decided to handle guitar duties.

to rejoin the thread

it'd be great if jackson would reintroduce something like early 90's pro's - of course I'm not talking about anything thiat high in specs but something like a soloist xl (rosewood board , neck through , bound neck - so in fact a sl3 with binding ) or some guitars with bound ebony fretboard but inlay-less ( sl2 ? style ? and cheaper hardware ) - so they could compete with ltd's 400/1000 series

as someone suggested a 7 string loomis V would be great ( or something like the KB rhoads with 24 frets and a floyd - i bet the 6 and 7 string version would sell like hot cakes - it doesn't have to be the OFR - 580lp's are okay and the 7 string version should be also replacable with OFR 7)

and goddamit make a 24 fret rhoads finally !!

it is always cool to hear the other side. here is part of interview with alexi when talking about whole situation:

Fenrir: Ok, here's a slightly off topic question...i know now...it's
an endorsment question, i figured i'd get an equipment question
in...I know you're endorsed by ESP...if Jackson ever offered you a
really sweet deal, would you ever go back to them?

Alexi: They did. They did like 3 times already.

Fenrir: Really?

Alexi: Yeah. They did. You know? the thing is, when that whole thing
happened, when my guitars were stolen, they didn't give a fuck. Ok,
i was never really endorsed by them...like I have done so much stuff
for Jackson, you know...promoting for free, saying 'i play Jackson
guitars', on the album covers. I just got discounts from the shop,
in Helsinki, were importing Jackson at that time. But anyway, when
Jackson changed owners to Fender, they didn't give a fuck, and you
know ESP, they just hooked me up like that. And then, it was a funny
thing, when i got my ESP guitars, a guy from Jackson called me up
and was like 'yeah, i heard what happened, you want us to make
guitars for you?" I'm like-it's too fucking late right now. You
didn't give a shit back then, so fuck you.

so according too him, jackson was lame at that time. btw some new "big" endorsers are badly needed imo. phil collen is the biggest name, and he ain't gonna drag many kids to jackson. they also lost buckethead, and i saw scott ian on washburn site and his sig ?!?!?! well, let they do whatever they want, it's their money...too bad, jacksons are the coolest guitars around.

Loomis's first 7-strings were ESPs, I believe, so he doesn't have a long history with Schecter. He would seem a logical endorser for Jackson, but maybe Jackson wouldn't want two signature 7-string models.

[/ QUOTE ]

How about a maple fretboard on his 7 string? That would open the market to something different.

But hear is the thing I see with all these endorsement deals from (ESP/Washburn/BC Rich). They take a Jackson artist, give him an ESP/Washburn/BC Rich clone of the Jackson guitar(s) they played/created/helped design, & dish out a load of dough as well. Then they make a cheap bolt-on knockoff to sell @ media play for $300 or less.

As for alexi or any other artist, if you want to go for the money then go. I look @ it this way I promote Jacksons as well, by buying/using/telling others they are the best guitars on the planet, I dont see Jackson saying, hears your new guitars, hears your deal. So be it. Also if Alexi was/is going to be such a great artist endorser, why is his model only available in Japan? Are there no gullable idiots in the USA that will buy a RR ripoff by ESP. NOt likely that is the problem, look the DV8 sells & it is nothing more than a KV ripoff.

Ok people move on Alexi is w/ ESP good for him life goes on.
Now back to your regular scheduled programing, which I believe was what new options/models will we see in '06.

No sense in arguing about it. But, I can tell you that if you look at the time his guitars were stolen, the time that Jackson was bought by Fender, you'll see that the timeline doesn't match up. By the time I was able to contact his camp (early December), he was playing ESP. It's as simple as that. Think about the timeline... Rock star or not, there is a waiting period for a Custom made instrument. Take a side and run with it. It's old news, as are these two news items:

http://www.answers.com/topic/children-of-bodom
In September of 2002, Children of Bodom played a short concert at Spinefarm Record's annual festival in Finland ...At the party thrown after the festival, Alexi stored his guitars on a place he thought to be safe and proceeded to drink with his friends until late in the night. On the following morning, when he woke up, he found that his custom shop Randy Rhoads Jackson guitars had been stolen. He later signed a deal with ESP Guitars in order to get his guitars replaced.

there was a lawsuit beetwen jackson and esp, cuz of that esp laiho model couldn't be sold in usa. he just made model for usa (just little different from his "original" model) and it will be sold in usa very soon. so that's answer to your question dude. i agree there's no point in arguing, it's not my thing. just guitars were stolen in september, and you called them in december. he needed guitars for the european tour in january. it couldn't be done in time.
it's all over now, esp was quick and scored...but to me his jacksons will always be much cooler (and they sounded better too).

I agree too... I've seen them three times, first time with the Jacksons, the other times with the ESPs.

The first show was definitely the best, in terms of sound, look, and also everything else. That was Wacken 2002.

i dont think it matters....

Jackson guitars kick the shit out of any guitar I have ever played.. when I got my first USA Jackson, I sold all of my non Jacksons (I even unloaded the PRS this year) and I will never look back, I have almost 30 Jacksons now, 18 USA and 5 imports along with 5 basses including an Antigravity (which several of my bass playing buddies say is one of the finest playing and sounding basses they ever laid their hands on) and I will continue to stock pile them like they are rations for WWIII. I personally dont give a shit who Keving Bond is and what his guitar is like (i like him fine, and his guitar looks great) that has nothing to do with me being a Jackson player.. But when you think about the future of Jackson and so forth, you just gotta think, man we needs some "players in our camp" Joe 14 year old is gonna end up with a schecter if we dont get them in the hands of some really visible players. Marty Friedman should have been allowed to leave. Nor should have Dave and Ian.. they are just "metal icons" but that is the past... lets get some Monster players on the team that are as big as Mark Morton (who is supposed to have a Firebird looking Signature coming out soon, the MM1)
Phil is a great icon in rock, lets gets some more guys like him too.. like the guys from Nickleback or Mark Tremonti.... that is fucking exposure... and I think Jackson makes a guitar that is easily on par with the PRS.
