Dave prolly sold more guitars for Jackson than anyone.. Hell, the DV8 outsells the Hetfield, Hammett, and Haneman models combined

[/ QUOTE ]
are you serious? [ QUOTE ]

they need to get KWS or something and grab that non metal market. Fender will never allow this, but I think it would really boost sales

[/ QUOTE ]
there's a big gap between metal market and fender market.
ibanez and schecter are both in it.
I would gear the charvel brand for that.
Jackson with sharkies should be reserved for metalheads. after all, you look out of place if you play pearl jam type of music with a dinky or RR. and their songs get heavy often.( one of my fav bands of all time, by far the best american band around, get pearl jam to charvel, I say! Like another member already did, I must disagree with you completely. I'd love to see more Jacksons with the very least, maple boards.

Newc! Thanks for noticing! We've got some solid players on the roster. Lamb of God & Trivium are bands with loads of promise & incredibly talented guitarists. For s&g's, in the past year, I've dealt with these Jackson artists that you may have heard of:
Mark Morton - Lamb Of God
Corey Beaulieu - Trivium
Karl Sanders - Nile
Christian Olde Wolbers - Fear Factory
Kevin Bond - Superjoint Ritual
Chris Beattie - Hatebreed
Scott Hull - Pig Destroyer
Phil Demmel - Machine Head
Serj Tankian - System Of A Down
Chris Caffery - Trans Siberian Orchestra
Jim Root - Slipknot

good!
that's better than nothing?
a related question:
right before the fender takeover, words on this board was fender was gonna have some big investiment in jackson and take back the hard rock market. what did that "initiative" go?
all they did was getting EVH back to charvel and nothing to jackson line.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not true - they dropped the "non Metal" SweeTone line and also kicked Dave Mustaine out. Look how big Metallica got when they kicked him out.
Kicking out Dave is always good for business

As for "nothing" to Jackson for endorsees - you haven't heard of Fear Factory? Then there's the various supergroups that are household names like Superjoint Ritual and Hatebreed, not to mention the highly photographed Rhoads LTD for Zakk Wylde, as well as the Jenna Jameson ad campaign.

You've never heard Def Leppard, Lamb of God, Trivium, Slipknot, Machine Head, TSO? Those are serious bands with amazing guitarists. Out of curiosity, what are your top 5 to 10 bands? (Should that be a new topic?)

Could be, but you might want to start it down in the Non J/C section.

Brian... Any word on negotiations with the next lineup of Lizzy Borden? Historically their guitarists have been for the most part Jackson/Charvel players. The late Alex Nelson played a Charvel Model 3 quite a bit. (you need to get Marten Andersson away from ESP )

Haven't heard from those guys, but then again, I'm not the AR guy either. Oddly, when I think "Lizzy Borden" the Flotsam & Jetsam tune comes to mind... back in Arizona's heavy metal heyday!

No, I mean Serj. Daron bought a few RR's last year, and I'd have to look to see which ones they are. He's into playing his Gibson SG though, from what I've heard. Serj uses his 'Bird in the studio and on his solo projects. That is just a list of some of the guys that I've dealt with - there is an actual AR department too, .

Don't get me wrong, the guys in the list are cool, but they're not of the stature or profile of Mustaine or even Scott Ian.....

Getting the new guys is a great strategy in the long term, but I'd have thought getting the guitars into the hands of established players is the key (especially if you can reverse the flow of artists towards ESP )
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Re: Any model lineup change in 06?

Well, who else is on the level of Dave Mustaine? I can think of one other guy. And that's a guy that he taught how to play... Bands like Lamb of God and Trivium represent the future of heavy metal and I they choose to play Jackson guitars. We didn't buy them, and we didn't give them guitars - they grew up playing Jackson guitars and they love their Jackson guitars. Sure, it might appear cool to add a new household name artist to the roster, but at what cost? Is it worth it to pay someone to play your stuff so people will think you're cool? We're in the business of making the best guitars in the world; not creating illusions. The Jackson guitar that a Jackson artist plays is the same Jackson that you & I play. That says something to me!

Now - what we need is a couple of you guys, our diehard Jackson brethren, to get famous & fly your colors!

Not that this is very much on topic, but I've never listened to any of these bands besides the TSO which I love. Would I like any of the other groups mentioned if I'm into classic rock, 80's hard rock/metal, and modern powermetal?

As for the actual topic - I would love to see some maple boarded Jacksons but preferably with dots not sharks. Ideally I would get a white dinky with a maple board and pointy headstock 22 frets HH string-thru etc etc custom shop piece =P

Actually, I hate to break it to you, but Mustaine and Ian are pretty much ancient history if you are under 25, whereas several of those bands listed have significant youthful followings. And old guys like me are much less likely to buy a guitar just because some rock star plays it--or is paid to pretend that he does.

Personally, I think the whole endorsement thing is overblown, anyway. I'm not saying that it doesn't have marketing value, but the bottom line is having appealing products at appealing prices. To me, most of Jackson's imports don't have that "wow!" factor, except for a couple of the high-end offerings that are pretty expensive. That's why I would like to see Jackson work to develop more distinguished import offerings. I think their USA Select line is pretty well sorted out--they are conservative, but at those prices people who want something more personal are just going to go custom, anyway. The real issue is what you see hanging on the wall when you walk into GC.
