So Brian...what are the odds of the custom shop retail prices decreasing by 15%???? I still need a Demon, Death Angel, Death Warrior, Archtop PC, and VVV...

Jackson is, in a sense, fighting a losing battle by making almost all of its imports in Japan, where they will never be able to match prices with all of the various guitars (LTD, Schecter etc.) that the Samick factory in Korea spits out. I have to think that is the primary factor in why a Bonds Rhoads sells for almost $1000, while the top of the line Schecter C-1 Exotic goes for about $300 less.

Makes me wonder if FMIC isn't considering whether to shift some of the import Jackson stuff to Mexico. I'm not saying I want that to happen, but it would seem a pretty logical move for the company to make, speaking strictly as an uninformed outsider.

couldn't agree more.
as the quality of MIK guitars improves the exchange rate has become the #1 factor. that's why iby and esp only import highend models from japan because they don't have a shop in US. Of course I am all for keeping the shop in japan, but maybe they can change that shop into a semi custom shop like carvin's with only bolt-on models with exchangable parts. so shorter built time. Keep the usa shop for neck thru and complex paint jobs.
speaking of carvin, I am amazed they still don't have a real competitor given how big they have become.

Nop doubt! He's an incredible player! I'd love to see him playing Jackson and I'm sure at some point he's bound to check our stuff out... if you know him, let me know.

Jeff Loomis. Mark my words that guy is the future of metal guitar.

[/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

uh, go out and hunt him down! Your conversation with the LoG guy with the Framus or whatever was a few years ago, and you've "given up" (for lack of better words) it seems... Try him again! Tastes change.

Loomis is with Schecter already and he smokes, but you're not going to go after him? Man, get aggressive - make these players understand that you WANT them! Even if you're annoying the piss out of them. What do you have to lose? Their endorsement that you don't have? i bet loomis is too modest to come after Jackson. He probably thinks "they wouldn't sign me"... he just seems to shy modest type.

Division is now Mike & Noodles. No locals opened for Nevermore when they came through with Opeth last month; however, Mike and Dave were in attendance.... so....

Mike/Noodles: Did Jeff/Steve ever say why they're loyal Schecter and whether or not they'd consider Jackson?

C-1 Exotic retail for 700 or so...

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is $300 less than $1000. Actually, you can each of them out the door for a little less than those prices, but those are round figures. Of course, I've never actually seen a Bonds Rhoads (or one of the Wolbers guitars) at GC, so it's difficult to compare what they'd do.

Though Jeff plays Schecter on tour I don't know that he is loyal, he did after all just buy a Warmoth.

Sorry Pro, I misread your comment. Yea Schecters high end are less. ESP are more though, about 1 grand and their signature models from japan are higher than Jackson signature models even. So it sorta varies. As long as the import doesn't retail for much over 1 grand I think its worth trying. Especially if its very nice.

but supposedly the Eclipse is a better playing and sounding guitar if you compare like models...I know several people that have both...

Loomis's first 7-strings were ESPs, I believe, so he doesn't have a long history with Schecter. He would seem a logical endorser for Jackson, but maybe Jackson wouldn't want two signature 7-string models.

The ESP LTDs are overpriced by any measure. For whatever reason, their overall quality is lower than the Schecters that come out of the very same factory in Korea. I've played a couple of LTDs that weren't bad, but most I've tried or owned have needed fretwork and didn't seem to have much tone. The Jackson imports are miles ahead of that. Schecter seems to be the 'hot guitar' of the moment, anyway, not ESP.

I agree Schecter is "the" guitar of the day...
but ESP is the one everyone is seeing everywhere because they whore themselves out so readily and those endorsees are highly visible...
I mean Dave Mustaine and his DV8 with the "ESP" on the headstock were on friggin Duck Dodgers fro crying out loud

Now - what we need is a couple of you guys, our diehard Jackson brethren, to get famous & fly your colors!

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll be trying to do that, but sans endorsement, since FMIC isn't interested.

My .02 on this whole thread - Loomis plays Schecter 'cause they give him stuff, and have a good relationship with him. To be honest, the Schecter 7s I've played smoke any 7 Jackson's made that doesn't have "Custom Shop" on the headstock, so I can't blame him for not being interested.

Now, approach him with the idea of an import RR7 neck-thru, and you might have a discussion. I know he loved the RR1 he used to play. (He and Tim tried to hook up at some point around DNB, IIRC, and it never happened.)

As for other endorsers, the LoG and Trivium guys are a good start. Why not catch someone undergorund that's about to take off for their virtuosity, like James from Arsis, Muhammed from Necrophagist or Tim or Rob from Into Eternity? You may say they're no big deal, but Everygrey and IA have sold a LOT of guitars for Caparison, for example...
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.

Good call on Into Eternity. Those guys are really making a name for themselves. But really how about a little love for the guys from Division? I've seen them live twice and they are definitely worthy of endorsement.
