• Replacement for Katrina guitar

The guitar is in! I thought I was getting metallic black but it arrived black (which is what the original was.) Here are my thoughts:

It plays well - I will try to set it up myself or have someone set it up. The action can definitely be lowered. But overall it is nice.

The neck feels a little more baseball-bat-like than the original. Is this just my imagination?

The pickup rings are kind of matte black - I may swap those out.

The case is a Fender type case. A friend of mine who had Ibanez and EPS guitars had no damage to his guitars because of those cases. They were untouched by water despite being submerged for weeks. I would have to say they are superior - at least when it comes to floods.

    Good Job Jackson Guitars!!!

    Congrats...nice looking axe

I've definitely noticed that newer Soloists have a much chunkier neck than any of the older ones I've owned. My newer SLATQH has a deep C shape to it that I'm not used to from a Jackson instrument.

Congrats. For some reason the link won't work for me.

Contrats. Same thing here with the link.

re: Feder case: I'm sure he's honestly stating the guitar was dry after being under water for weeks, however, I have those cases for my vintage Strats and I can't see them being water proof. It may have been a once in a lifetime save.

I think it has something to do with the grooves that seal the case. It is possible that all his cases floated - I'm not sure. The one thing that was consistent was the kind of case.

Beautiful new soloist. Good luck with her.

I guess it's it possible the case floated or is tight enough to keep water out. I hope I never have to find out.
