Re: Who here likes bolt ons more than neck thrus a
today my neck through arrived. first impression: MUCH better than bolt on. high fret access is awesome, definitely much better than the bolt on stuff. i'm very curious what it'll be like in a few weeks when the honeymoon's over basically

I'm 5'8, have average hands. When I play standing up, I can NOT play past the 12th fret on my Strat bodies. It's as sad as this. It depends on the angle an strap height of course, but I already wear the guitar pretty high. The bulky neck joint gets in the way and well it's not great. I don't play lead too much so it's ok, and i love bolt ons anyway, but I'll want a neck thru or set neck guitar sometimes.

I have the exact same problem, I'm also 5'8" but I have really small hands. I usually wear mens xs gloves. When I can find them. I wear my guitar pretty high also, something an old jazz guy showed me. I've never really played bolt ons all that much for this reason. They aren't comfortable for me and I can't really get my hand in there. Set necks (gibson style) are pretty good, but my neck through jackson - I'm completely sold on the design and probably will never go back for my main guitar.
