• Jackson Custom Shop wait time

Something to think about for those of you thinking about placing a Custom Shop order or already have one in the works:

I ordered a Soloist (very basic, no frills) from the Custom Shop back in July of 2004. I received word right before
Halloween of this year that it was done, even got a picture of it. However, it has been almost two months since
then and I still don't have the guitar? What gives? What could possibly take two months to do to the guitar?
Final checkup? Problem with the case? Waiting for magic fairies to come sprinkle mojo dust on it? What??

I'm really not mad about this, just perplexed. If I just knew what the hold-up was, the wait wouldn't be that big a deal.
But it will be 17 months next week since I ordered the guitar and, well, I just want my guitar dammit!!

BTW, is there any other guitar maker that takes 17 months to complete an order?

I'd try chasing that up the reason for the delay through your dealer....

Re: Jackson Custom Shop wait time

I'm in month 15 for my Custom shop and I'm told it will be ready sometime late January/early February. I knew it would take this long in the beggining so i'm not really upset about it. I'm wondering if it's done and It's in the "sprinkle mojo" phase or will that come in Jan.

I've done a pretty good job of forgetting about it until now. Since I know it's close to the end, I can't wait!

Keep us posted Eric.

I just waited 18 months for mine. Mine made it through shipping pretty quickly only because I had a Jackson Sales rep pushing it for me.

Out of all the major manufacturers? Probably not...

Well, ESP has an 8 month minimum wait, and I`ve seen freinds wait 1,5 years.... FWIW

Hey hey. Mine was placed in July 2004. Got pictures of it in June and was told it would be 30 days, I still don't have it....HAHAHAHA. I did just hear that it is done and it may ship next week. I think it may be more like a month, but thats cool. I have been patient this long, a little whil longer is cool with me.

Re: Jackson Custom Shop wait time

My experience has been that it is typical for there to be a delay between the guitar being finished and when it actually ships. I'm not sure why or what they do in this time, but it can be 2-3 months or more.

Re: Jackson Custom Shop wait time

Wow, I'm officially no longer interested in dealing with their custom shop now. Since what I want is a custom body and art work and inlays, it would probably take years to get it down. The local dealer told me six months, now looking at this, I'd be pissed if that was the quote and it took a year or more
they have fender behind them now, what is the hold up with this stuff?
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Re: Jackson Custom Shop wait time

hey jerry, i highly doubt it would take years. six months is as ridiculous. they produce about 20-25 pieces per month in the custom shop. for what you'd want, i'd expect way longer than six months. that's normal.

archtop, there seems to be a delay from when they're done to when they ship. they have to go to staging, entered into inventory and then shipped. no idea what makes it take so long, so i couldn't really be of much help with that. when the JCF 02s were finished, they sat for a while in shipping. that's probably all it is.

I don't want to scare you, but I have a CS Dinky which took 7 months from completion until they shipped the guitar. I don't know what happened in this 7 months and I guess that I will never find out. But the guitar finally arrived

Re: Jackson Custom Shop wait time

Ordering a Moser is about a 2 year process but that's because right now Neal is the only one building in his shop. He can do about 2 guitars per month. For Jackson, 1.5 years seems a little too long. I know BCR had almost 2 year wait times recently, but they're just a fucked up company in general.

I ordered a custom shop in August and I have just put it out of my mind. Shit, I ordered a Solar PC1 back in May and I'm still waiting for it. Jackson's process is kind of F'd up. It's a good thing they have such a loyal following.
