Re: Who else prefers Floyds??

i dunno, maybe its because i started out right on a recessed Floyd, playing an archtop TOM guitar, makes really quick palmmutes hard to execute for me, and ultimately, uncomfortable and clumsy.

    but maybe thats just me?...

I love floyds, i have one guitar which has a vintage trem on it and i only use it for alternate tunings, i haven't owned a guitar with a TOM but in the store they feel uncomfortable, like it's missing a chunk for the palm muting part of the hand, i don't know why though, i went through hell trying to find a flying V with a floyd, and i finally found a ESP LTD V-250 and im in heaven right now.

I have lots of floyds, and a handful of others. I dont dislike TOMs, but I like OFRs better

I love Floyds, especially the Original, mainly for the look of the long pins. What I don`t like is recessed Floyds, gotta be non-recessed, that way it feels like my 2nd favorite bridge, the Tunamatic, 3rd is the Kahler Pro. Jack.

I've got one OFR guitar and I'm planning to build another. I had been away from them for almost 15 years, but I'm enjoying them more this time around since I figured out how to actually set them up properly!

when i'm on my game, i use the floyd constantly. i am always accenting with it. it helps me a lot. i have good fingers, but i use the floyd to extend my playing. i have grown to like them recessed, or at least with some give in there. you have to have it that way. i don't know what i was doing all those years prefierring the blocked kind. no thanks. now all i need is a guitar-lol

can't live without 'em, they look cool and I like to wank with the whammy bar.

I like them both ways...I love the solid feel of a Les Paul with a stop tailpiece, but I also love how a FR can accent your playing, whether it be vibrating a note at the end of a lead line or divebombs to the ground and back. I like them all!

I prefer string thru or stop tail. I think it is because I started out on a Gibson SG and Flying V. I got into Jacksons later on. I have 5 Floyd equipped guitars out of 14.

never liked fixed bridges. they make the guitar look cheap imo.

IMO some can look pretty classy. But for your viewing pleasure, here are a couple cheap looking RR's I own.

I actually prefer a fixed bridge, because I think it lends me more control over my playing. But right now, my only "playable" guitars have non-recessed Floyds. I love those things! I do not like recessed Floyds nearly as much.
