Re: New for 2006 Jackson PDF\'s

paulbag - great idea but please with binding and FLOYDED with an OFR just like the new sl3 + bound neck - and either rosewood with fins or blank ebony

a neck through kelly/kv/rhoads import ntb with floyd and binding :o

About competing with ESP : if they're priced - in the 400 region that could be done - especially if they'd upgrade the trems AND/OR advertise more the fact that they're made in japan

the sl3 - if it had binding it'd be a great competition for m-1000/m-2 (okay , i rather see the dk-2/dk2maple as a competition for esp m-2 standard - especially if it'd have about the same price as it has () and an original floyd as they're both made in japan etc.

and Jackson please :

a)advertise more the fact that all imports (not talking 'bout js' here) are made in japan

b)bound necks on the sl3/rr5 (hopefully other models someday in the vein of those in this or paulbag's post) wouldn't kill you.

and most important :

c) SCULPTED HEEL !!! - either a more cut neckplate design (esp?) or even better - something like an All access neck joint - would it be so hard to implement ?

gotta buy a jackson this year i think

The Pro series is built in Japan right? Does anyone know what company builds these for Jackson. For all I know it's the same company that builds for ESP or Ibanez.

[/ QUOTE ]
Like Pott mentioned, Jackson has had their own factory in Japan since the mid-80's. I don't think they make any other guitars, however they do make other model Jacksons for the japanese domestic market (brands "Grover Jackson" and "Jackson Stars"). They have a custom shop as well.

[ QUOTE ]
I'm just curious because these guitars are priced between the LTD 400's and ESP Standard guitars so I'm wondering if they are meant to compete with the LTD's or the ESP's? What would the quality be more comparable to?

[/ QUOTE ]
I would guess somewhere in the middle, although closer to the LTDs. Back in the early 90's, the japanese shop was reknowned for its excellent quality and workmaship. At that point, quality was definitely on par with ESP and the USA Jacksons. It got to where they had to lower the quality intentionally, because the sales of the imports took a big bite of the sales of american made guitars. During the mid to late 90's the quality and features of japanese Jacksons slowly degraded. Build quality seems to have gotten back up a bit since Fender bought Jackson from Akai, and now we finally see some overall improvements in features. =)

This is why I think it would be cool if they built more imports like the RR5, only WR5, KV5, KE5 etc. Neckthru, stringthru, that would be a sick line

+1 I want a KV5!

Neck-thru, string-thru KV... I'm DEFINITELY in!

Now that we got the floyd on the lower-priced KVX10 the way is free for a high-end, string-thru import King V.

Am I the only person likeing the DK2T?...

[/ QUOTE ]

No, you are not alone.

The DK2T is probably the most perfect, decently-priced import ever. Hardware-color, pickups... everything is great out of the box! And it's string-thru!!!!!!

Re: New for 2006 Jackson PDF\'s

The ultimate would be to have the option of string thru or floyded, and more finish options (especially trans!) but we do realize Jackson needs to run it's production as efficiently as possible. Maybe they could find the happy medium between the MG line, and the hopefully newly formed "5" line, where for example the MG's are all available with Floyd's, or if you want a string thru Warrior, KV, KE, etc. you have to look no further than the "5" line. Now if they would make more MG models like the SLSMG. More neck thru MG models... I think Jackson could really dominate the market of guitars in the $800.00-$1200.00 range. And my collection would grow much more rapidly

I haven´t been interested in the imports in a long time, but that DK2M caught my eye. I´ll probably pick one up when they´re available... and if this thread is anything to judge by, Jackson might have spec´d themselves a hit with it

I really like the dk2t, but I suddenly want a guitar with a floyd on it. That dk2-m is very apealing, I will definetly want to check one out once the hit the street.

btw, anyone else thinks that dk-2m with a OFR might be a really heavyweight competitor for esp standard m-2 with the maple board (that one Romeo from symphony x plays) ??

Re: New for 2006 Jackson PDF\'s

Anyone bitching that the SL3 and RR5 should have binding and that they should have OFRs needs to be realistic. Jackson already made that mistake with the early 90's Pro line. If you slap bindingon the new SL3, you have an SL1 with a rosewood board. That is going to start cutting into USA sales. I am EXTREMELY grateful for the upgrades we did get, the new line looks AWESOME! But I wouldn't expect much more, this is about as good as it gets for an import line. Sure, adding binding to the SL3 would be better competition for ESP, but it is also competition for the USAs and ESP doesn't have a USA line to worry about cutting into. If you want all those features, buy a USA. This import line fuckin' SMOKES though! Can't wait to try the new trems, hopefully it's more like the JT590, but the trem description DOES lead me to believe they are still using the JT580LP and maybe reverting back to the JT500 on the X series...My ONLY complaint is that the DXMG didn't get the upgrades that the rest of the MG series did, but I guess it is an X series guitar before it is an MG series...Now there is actually a difference between the X and Pro series as well which makes sense.

dumpy : there would be still a huge difference for all the usa freaks : rosewood you mentioned AND plastic fins.

a bound sl3 would be practically a better(ofr) soloist xl - i know the pro outsold the sl1 but i doubt about the XL
