Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

Hey hey. Great questions. Here is my input

1. Is there any old school things that Charvel Jackson hasn't done in a while that you'd be into seeing us re-introduce?

I would like to see the Fire Bird become a select model and (I know I know) charvels have the corect headstock strat or pointy. Also non trem options on ALL GUITARS, and that would make the RR1T a regular model.

2. What finish option should we be doing?

Saturn and neon pink (no really I dig that color)

3. Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not?

No.

4. What sucks in the current line (let me guess: everything? LOL already!!!)

I don't care for the PC/new Charvel headstocks. I would have a few of the new Charvels if the did not have that headstock.

5. When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson?

Been about 2 years, but that will change soon. I want a new WR1

Also. I think over all Jackson does a great job. I dig all guitars and companys, but Jackson I think is the better company. Nothing I think sucks, but if we could get a few more options-all the better for all. Plus anything that gets us back to the good ol days while gaining new ground is great. Not many companys do that.
LATER!!!

I'd like to say I'm not one to live in the past, so I can't think of any "old school" ideas. You should keep doing limited runs of certain things, like the Charvel Bullseye. As far as body styles go; I'd like to see a Kelly Star select.

In the finish department; if you would be so kind as to resurrect the Red Ghost Flame and Blood Drip finishes please.

Hardware. Hmmmm... well the OFR is just fine, no need to mess it up with a D-tuna. Instead, maybe give USA Select series guitars the option of OFR recessed or non-recessed, Speedloader, or string-thru.

I can't think of anything that really sucks in the current line. Though charging $200 more for a lefty model is just uncalled for.

I bought my RR1 about a year ago. Just around Feb/March of last year. If I remember correctly. Well that's my $0.02.

Hey, very cool of you to come on here and ask these questions. Much appreciated.

1. I've seen an interest in people wanting KV1's back, the demand seems to be there, weather this is considered "old school" or not, lol.

2. Hmmm, you guys offer lots of finishes, i'd only like to see maybe some "bengal" finishes on some imports,if affordable, and that's being picky.

3. Nope, i think the only thing the public really wants is the choice of having a Floyd or not, IMHO this should be a must for ALL the U.S.A. select series. Also, the option for gold hardware would be cool for the select series, mainly for transparent tops

4. What sucks? nothing, just looking at all the different body styles and finishes and different necks, this has to be the widest variety of guitars i've seen anyone company carry, something for any/every guitar player.

5. Last time i bought a new Jackson was in 2000, my KV2 ssm/bbv. If a non floyded one comes out, i'd surely buy it.

Last thing i want to add that might be helpful and that was also mentioned, is there have been many, many people asking for a 24 fret RR1, with or without pick guard(i personally would prefer no pick guard) It would probably be the next Jackson i would buy, but this might be due to only having Floyds on the kv2's, which i like, but already own 2, now i want one without.

thx dude, and rock on.

I don't like to harp but take a look at how many times you see the words neck profile in the replies. I love ny new Warrior and the SL1 is cool to but if I was blind and picked up any of my guitars the 2 '89 ones and the '91 would be played all the time and the other two rarely. When I ordered the Warrior I asked for a Jackson speed neck. When I reviewed the build sheet it had a .790 x .850 measurement for the profile. I made sure they changed it to .775 x .835. Nice but not even close. What happened? I can't stress enough that the best old school thing of Jackson/Charvel to bring back is the neck profiles.

I have three words in reply to this:

Think about it: if you were to offer REAL Floyds on an affordable instrument, the world would beat a path to your door. Sure, they're stock on the USA Selects, but why not put them on guitars in the $4-500.00 range, also? They can be bought brand new for about $120.00 online. Surely Jackson can get them cheaper/wholesale, right? Kramer offered them on the Focus series in the 80's. Jackson could step ahead of the crowd in this way.

OK, first off let me say that I'm NOT a Jackson user and never really have been for the most part (I've had a few here and there). If you could make a few options available that I'll list below, you just might change that!

I'll probably get flogged for some of this, but here goes!

- Make more models available with the SLSMG type headstock. I think it's VERY attractive and not so... Ummm.... Old School.

- Make more models with the Piranha Inlays. Again, VERY attractive and not so Old School.

- More String Thru's and make some non-recessed floyd options as well. I don't even use Floyds but LOVE fine tuners and the tuning stability.

- Maple Fretboard options. Yummy! Maple fretboard with Black Piranha Inlays!!!!

- Bring back the Star!!!

- Do something about the wack Volume knob placement! Place it more under the bridge than the pickup.

- Sperzel locking tuners on ALL models would be nice! They make string changes a breeze even on floyded guitars.

- Black hardware on Imports!

- More White guitars.

I know allot of people will HATE this comment, but if you were to start moving more towards the SLSMG type Headstock, Piranha Inlays, and non-recessed trems / String-Thru, it would probably go along way towards regaining some popularity with todays consumers.

[EDIT] For the record, I've always LOVED the way Jackson's play! There appearance has just never been my cup of tea.

Very cool that you stopped by to ask our opinions, it shows that you really care about the brand!

More non trem models, Put real Floyds and real pearl sharkfins on the neck-through imports. More maple boards would be nice, as would keeping the Charvel line deeply rooted in old-school traditions. Most importantly, intensely focus on quality control, especially with the USA line. Many people here have complained about it.

I have to thank you guys for releasing the "new" HM Strats (Highway 1 Stagemaster). As soon as they hit the stores, I'm getting one!

The last new Jackson I bought? About a year ago, an SL-3.

Thanks for asking us for our opinions. I bought my only jackson a few years ago, a PS-4. I also bought a Gibson LP in 2002, Jacksons are just way to expensive here in Australia (could you try and fix it?) and I also like the fixed bridge, got the Gibson before thinking about importing one myself from the US.

Cool things:

more string thru guitars

Maple fretboards

Blue snakeskin

OFR on import models? It's the one thing I hate about my PS-4 is the Bad floyd on it.

=edit=
Fusions would be nice as well

Neckthrough USA soloists with oiled necks.

Id quit my day job, and play my guitar all day if that happened!

Here I go..........Thanks for asking Mc D.

1. Bring back the Charvel Model Series. Especially the Model 2. Maybe refine it by making a Model 2 with a maple neck. Keep the prices low. I can't see spending $999.95 on an import. Make em affordable to everyone and most of all, keep the quality up.

2. Colors......WHITE, solid white with black hardware.

3. Go easy on the reverse headstocks. Those kinda went out of style along with Metallica. The only Jackson with 2 humbuckers has a reverse headstock. It looks like Kirk Hammett's ESP M II. Old school!

4. Other manufacturers are putting origional Floyds on their guitars..........what about Jackson/Charvel? That would be very nice.

5. I have always wanted an RR guitar, but the USA model is a little far from my reach and the import RR5 kinda looks crappy with chrome hardware. How about a good import black string thru with black hardware? How about everyone elses dream RR while your at it.

6. Don't add a D-Tuna. They make a good guitar look cheap. MusicYo.com kinda burned those out. I had one and never used it. Mess with it too much and you can damage your guitar.

7. I bought my last NEW Jackson last year. It's a DK2. Damn good guitar. I just wish it had 2 humbuckers and came in white with black hardware and a maple 22 fret board.

8. 22 Fret maple boards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom line, I'd most like to see a Model 2 Charvel reissue with a maple board. Everything else would be a plus for me. The current Jackson line is kinda stale. I can't think of an import I'd rather have other than the DK2 I already own. I am not happy with the Charvels. Now that they are making it around to my area I am not that happy with them and they cost too darn much.

That's all I got.

Hey Brian

One thing i would like to see you guys bring back is the Birds eye fret boards with ebony shark fin inlays
also non recessed Floyds

as far as the Charvels

keep them simple like the Bulls eyes 22 frets pointy head stocks non recessed Floyd one hum and you could do a two hum version

On thing you should do is a put out a New Rhoads model 24 frets non recessed floyd no pickguard
two hums one knob with three way switch

now that would be cool

Hey Drop me a email Brian,

Great thing that you ask about the opinion of us, the Jackson/Charvel users!!
As I live in Europe, I would definitelly say,do something to make the more high end guitars less costly.
Don`t know why, but always liked more if my guitar has Charvel tag rather than Jackson. So, I`d like to see Randy Rhoads Charvels again. My main guitar right now is Charvel Rhoads with added Floyd Rose II and Di marzio Evolution. If it has a 24 reversed neck through with sharkfin inlays, it would be A DREAM COME TRUE. Also, I personally don`t like RR`s with pickguard.
I would like to see more Metal looking Charvels.
