Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

I'll keep it simple.

- Consider to incorporate the Buzz Feiten Tuning System (option)
- Make more USA Select guitars available with hardtail bridges
- Consider body bindings
- Make the RR1 without pickguard, with hardtail or string thru and 24 frets

My latest new Jackson/Charvel acquisition was in 1997 (a Jackson Rhoads Pro). Reason for this measly record is this price example: I live in Europe, Denmark. Here, a plain Jackson USA Soloist costs: $4600 How are sales in Europe?

Fist off, thanks for letting our voices be heard and I hope some of this stuff helps you out......

"1. Is there any old school things that Charvel Jackson hasn't done in a while that you'd be into seeing us re-introduce?"

Kelly Stars and Charvel Stars. Put binding back on all the Pro Series (keep rosewood) and Re-Introduce the neck thru pro King V, Warrior and Kelly Models.

"2. What finish option should we be doing?"

Put "Interference" flames over a black finish

"3. Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not?"

Locking tuners

"4. What sucks in the current line (let me guess: everything? LOL already!!!)"

Nothing in the line sucks, what would suck would be losing Dave Mustaine as an endorser.....sign him up and give him a new Sig Series model, and you definately need to get these great guitars into more high profile players hands.

5. When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson?

I bought 4 Jacksons last year, 2 used early 1990's pros (warrior & King V) and 2 new. Cobolt blue DKMG and a DXMG. Once I get my amp situation where I want it I will be ordering a new USA Jackson.
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

Thanks for asking! Seems like what you're really asking is what would I spend money on. My comments mainly address the USA shop, since I doubt that I'd buy an imported guitar.

1. Is there any old school things that Charvel Jackson hasn't done in a while that you'd be into seeing us re-introduce?

If I saw the USA Charvel bullseye that was done for GuitarXpress available with a choice of USA Select finishes, I'd be collecting my pennies. (I didn't care for the bullseye graphic.) That would *only* be true if all of the details including non-recessed Floyd, San Dimas neck profile were present. Given the choice between single hum and 2H, I'd pick the latter, but I'd be happy either way.

2. What finish option should we be doing?

You're cool with what you have. It might help if you'd rotate out a few of the graphics and bring some others. I like the suggestions I've seen in the thread. No specific preferences, but variety rules.

3. Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not?

Again, you're doing fine.

4. What sucks in the current line (let me guess: everything? LOL already!!!)

That godawful pseudo-strat amoeba blob headstock on the import Charvels and PCs. I can't overstate how repulsive that headstock design is. If the Charvel strathead is out of the question, stick with pointy.

5. When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson?

Bought the JCF Rhoads in 2001, and I'm pretty darned happy with it. I'm still waiting for a new USA Charvel I can hang next to it.

One last note--it's very cool that you're asking for our input. The reason everyone here appreciated this so much last time is that our ideas actually made it into the product designs. Hope the tradition continues!

First, thank you for asking this. This is really ZE right direction which some other guitar companys have been doing for awhile.

threee-per-side pointed headstock (as on slsmg) on usa line would be nice.
there are so many DiMarzio pickups you guys should try. like breed, norton and of course tonezone.

Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

I really hope you get to read everyone's replies. The most popular requests should be considered greatly, such as:

1.) Original Floyd Rose on every guitar
2.) The option of hardtail/tunomatic on EVERY guitar
3.) Reverse headstock option on every guitar
4.) Hardware color option on every guitar
5.) 24 fret or 22 fret options on every guitar
6.) Fretboard wood choice option
7.) EMG, Dimarzio, or Duncan pickup choice option

These are just simple changes. It's the tiny little things like these that can really personalize your guitar without having to go Custom Shop. You'd get a HUGE number of permutations of similar yet different guitars if you were to take all of these options into consideration. Fender has a TON of different Strats and Teles that all look the same to the untrained eye, but it's the one with the special preferred options that make you pick one from the litter. If Fender does it, why not Jackson? Even Ibanez does it. Just look at how many different kinds of RGs they have.

I would to see an SL1H or whatever you would call it. Basically an SL2H but with just 1 humbucker in the bridge, basically a Hotrod SL ala Charvel, I don`t even use neck pickups, just the bridge. Non-Recessed Floyds!! Jack.

I know these have been stated before.
Guess there are plenty of >30 white males here.

Bring back the late 80's neck profile.

I like white also. Just looks classy.

Maple fret boards with ebony inlays would be nice.

Last/only new axe was a Model 5 in 87 or 88.

Thanks for listening.

1. Is there any old school things that Charvel Jackson hasn't done in a while that you'd be into seeing us re-introduce?
Neck profile! The older necks are thinner.

2. What finish option should we be doing?
Matching headstocks.
Unfinished necks (like the WR1).
Choice of hardware color (chrome, black, or gold)

3. Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not?
A single hum dinky or soloist.
OFRs on the imports.

4. What sucks in the current line.
There are NO reverse heastocks on the USA Select Jacksons.
There are NO maple fretboards on the USA Select Jacksons.
There's very few matching headstocks.

5. When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson?
Friday (3 days ago) Waiting for it to be delivered as I type! Also bought a USA select in January of this year, and 2 USA selects in December of 2002, and several others before that.

Being left-handed, my options are so limited, so I'll keep my comments limited as well. Please keep the USA Selects available left-handed. Also, would like to see a import neck-thru lefty. Anything more is iceing on the cake.

First of all, thanks for asking, we really appreciate that!
I'll just answer the questions that are important for me:

3. Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not?
As many others, I want to see more string-thru guitars.
On the second page of this thread somebody said that this issue is overhyped and that most people won't put their money where their mouths are.
Ok, here we go: I've never felt the urge to use a trem, even when playing a guitar with a trem in a shop. I will never buy a guitar with a floyd or Kahler trem because I wouldn't use it so the hassle with it isn't worth it.
I would especially NEVER buy a USA Jackson with a trem.

4. What sucks in the current line (let me guess: everything? LOL already!!!)
I'm missing some string-thru KVs...

I really want to get a string-thru KV as it's one of my favourite body shapes, so currently I'm looking at the KVX-10, but honestly I'd like to get a guitar with better features.
For example like a KVMGT or a pro series KV.

I'd DEFINITELY buy such a guitar. Actually I've saved almost enough money to get one already.

5. When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson?
Last year in April I bought a Jackson DKMGT.
Now why did I buy a DKMGT?
STRING-THRU!!!!!

Thanks again for asking for our opinions.
