A bit late in my response and there's no way I'm reading 5 pages of posts, so I'm probably repeating things here:

Camouflage finishes. Body binding. Neck thru KellyStar. Neck thru Stealth. More string thru models. EMGs..the REAL ones, not those HZ things. Dual and single hum models. Bring back the Roswell Rhoads.

Make reverse headstocks an option on ALL models.

hmmm...some people don't understand the fascination with the strat heads...lemme see if i can explain...
a) when you take something away from a kid (ex. a toy), that's what they want the most...same rules apply here...
b) i've owned quite a few of both (still have 3 real strat heads) they do feel different, i can't explain why but they do...mine seem thinner than most of the pointies i've owned (15+)
c) one word...mojo (actually a lot of peoples favorite players played strat heads: demartini, vai, lynch, lee, etc...)...

fact of the matter is even if they decide to make stratheads again does not mean they will feel the same as the originals unless they really take precise measurements off of some old ones...add into that the wear of most of them (comfy old shoes come to mind) and i could see it being very difficult to re-produce these things...not saying it couldn't be done though...

hope this helps...d.m.

great bring on the strat heads whoop whooop. the warrior/dm whatever/vee/RR are dead issues as far as I am concerned. bring on the stratheads the only important issue in this thread anyway

I don't understand why a lot of people want Stratheads either. I mean, I like the look of my Fender's headstock, but who really wants a non-tilt back head with stupid string trees to keep the strings down for a better angle behind the nut anyway?!? At least my USA Double Fat Strat has staggered tuners so it eliminates at least one string tree, but I would rather have it not be there to begin with.
I don't think the pseudo-Stratheads on the PC1 and newer Charvels are all that bad, but I guess I'm in the minority on that one. I say stick with the regular pointy head for all Jacksons and Charvels. Then again, some people complain about the C/J pointy headstocks as not having straight string pull. There's nothing better than a Strat head on a Strat - that's what I think you're getting at. A Kelly or Rhoads wouldn't look nearly as cool with something else on the headstock. My personal favorite headstock is the Gibson hockey stick (on my Explorer) - it looks great on a Strat. Same dilemma - we can't do that one either.

I disagree McD! There is something better on a strat that a strathead........A REVERSE STRATHEAD! Hey, and I thought of another cool new item for 2003....I know Fender has there...How bout Jackson Stickers or bumper sticker sized stickers....I'd put em on every case I have and would make sure one gor on the back of a monitor and soundbooth at every club I play at or frequent!

The tilt-back thing has bugged me - why can't you make your pseudo-strat headstocks tilt back? The simplest design, most logical design, would be a tilt-back headstock with the strings running straight through the nut to the tuners...yet the only company doing that is Ibanez, and it's wasted since everythig they make has a locking nut...

If I recall correctly Washburn did that on the N2 and N4 series didn't they?

I was just surfing ebay lookin for a Y2KV and just basically browsing Jacksons and a great Idea came to me. I know Jackson tried 7 string imports that didn't do too well, and looking at them I can see why some people wouldn't be all that enthusiastic about them. First off the duncan designed pickups probably just don't have enough bite when it comes to that low string, secondly, no pickup rings, thirdly sharkfins almost look less attractive without binding on a 6 string neck, on the 7 they just look awefully small and out of place. (looks like they used the same sized inlay as a six string too) The pointy headstock is cool, but the logo needs to be a little larger to cover the same ratio it does on a 6 string headstock. Then it hit me........Why not a DKMG 7 string? Binding and piranah inlays, archtop, EMG-HZ (or equivelant 7 string pickup), the EMG Turbocharger and a choice of trem and string thru...just like the DKMG and the old Jackson 7 strings......(plus I'm sure they have plenty of 7-string bridges and trems just collecting dust in the factory.) This guitar would look and sound sweet! I think it would definately steal some Ibanez, BC Rich AND ALL OTHER 7 string manufacturers business.....What do you think? McD?

This would be a total long shot if it ever happened, but a reissue of all the san dimas charvels starting at 1001 the heinikan start going to 5491 or what ever the # was. It would be hard to get the strat heads and a lot of the guitars would be red pointy's with kalhar's but would be cool to see some of the weird stuff that would come up via a serial # no ones seen. or as some said a star collection, Robin's Big Red, Warren's Crossed Sward's, Vai's Eyeball solist, Amier's camo's, Anthrax's custom stuff. As far as regular production stuff, more non resessed floyds, Arch Tops, White with gold hardware guitars, more painted headstocks.

Thanks for asking McD! You have justified my faith.
On the subject of headstocks, the pointy headstock is not just a styling thing. The reduced mass of the headstock gives a sharper high response. If I am not mistaken, that was the primary reason for its introduction.
I think that everything that is desired has been pretty well covered except for body woods. I would like to see a series that includes the option of mahogany or swamp ash bodies.

I really think its cool of Brian to see what we think/want/crave!

I am just gonna have to say, bring back the KV-1.
With enuff pressure, and a market...I'm sure kahler would give the APM3310 a thought again...I've heard stipulation that they are considering re-introducing it in the future a bit improved.

More fixed bridge guitars, if not the KV-1.

A couple of more finish options, and perhaps a mtachign and/or reverse headstock option.

And the XTRR....was a killer idea...a 24 fret rhoads.
