Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

A little background: I'm a metal head. I couldn't care less for Charvel stratheads or full-size strat bodies. If I wanted that, I'd get a Fender. =P
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, the point here is that Charvel made (makes?) a better Strat than Fender ever did.
It's a matter of personal taste of course...but they feel different, they play different. I just can't dig a traditional Fender neck, so it's Charvel all the way for me...but I like the Strat headstock from an aesthetic point of view. Never have cared much for the pointies, but I know most Jackson hardcore fans do.

Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

1. Is there any old school things that Charvel Jackson hasn't done in a while that you'd be into seeing us re-introduce?

The XTRR
Graphics from the 80's
Star body style
Maple boards with ebony inlays

2. What finish option should we be doing?

White backround with blood drip
More bevel/backround color options, example. black with green bevels or black with red bevels, etc.
Matching headstocks
Graphics from the 80's

3. Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not?

Fixed bridge string through option on all USA select guitars and sperzel locking tuners on fixed bridge guitars.
Dimarzios pickups

4. What sucks in the current line (let me guess: everything? LOL already!!!)

No 24 fret RR without a pickguard. This, like many others, is also my dream guitar. Please for the love of God, offer a USA select RR with 24 frets and no pickguard!

5. When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson?

Dec. KV2 in BlkGhostFlames

First off, thanks for stopping by and asking these questions.I love Charvel/Jackson,I play 'em exclusively!

1."Is there any old school things that Charvel/Jackson hasn't done in a while that you'd be into seeing us re-introduce"?

USA Charvels and the Warrior with the slanted fretboard and slanted single coil pickup. Also,I'd like to see some maple fretboards with reverse headstocks.

2."What finish option should we be doing"?

Transparent Purple or Flame Maple Purple.

3."Should we be using a pickup/bridge/accessory (D-Tuna for example) that we're not"?

The only thing I can think of right now is the use of DiMarzio's in the USA select models. Also, real Floyd's in the middle to upper end imports.

4."What sucks in the current line (let me guess: everything? LOL already!!!)"

The new Charvel headstocks. Please make them pointy.I was realy looking forward to them having the pointy headstocks.I was going to buy one until I seen that goofy looking headstock.Other than that I like what's in the line up.

5."When is the last time you bought a "new" Charvel or Jackson"?

3/4/97:I bought a new Jackson RR1 in Metallic Black.I wish that I would've kept a hold of it.That thing was so easy to play.I miss it hardcore.

Thanks for the opportunity for feedback.
1) No comment
2) You have a lot of great finishes. No suggestions
3) D-Tuna would be cool, but not necessary. Is it possible to improve the current DK-2 Trem?
4) There are no normal headstock 2 Hum dinky imports! Only the DK-2. I want to get a Dinky with a Jazz/JB Combo. I can't do that on any of your models. The best I can do is a Lil' 59 and JB. Bring back the SL-4! Also, move the volume knob. Put it where Ibanez or Fender have theirs - Out of the WAY! for when you are furiously strumming
5) I bought a 2000 DX10D in March 2000 and a 2002 DK2 in Feb 2002

oh - One more.
A Dinky import with a maple neck, Dot inlays and a finish matching normal pointy (non-reverse) headstock! JT580 Trem (or better) and H-S-H PUP config or H-H. and move the volume knob. Give me a Chlorine finish option

Re: 2003 - Ideas/thoughts ->

I'd like to see artist tribute models released in limited numbers. Say a Vinnie Vincent model, a Big Red for Robin, maybe Jeff Beck's singles Soloist, etc. As a collector, I'd be all over those.

Also, strathead Charvels with graphics would be great.

And the re-issue of the old school Warrior with the slanted fretboard, but no damn single coils. Equip them with something good like a Full Shred. I'd buy a few.

I bought my last new Jackson in December and I'm pretty happy with it.

You should notice the new LOWER prices real soon. I just sent 4 guitars to the Casale Bauer show - whatever that is! LOL!

McD -

Hey, great to see you still hanging out here. Considering some of the attitudes towards Fender at the beginning, I wouldn't be surprised if you ditched the place.

My suggestions:

#1
You'd probably sell quite a few pointy-head Charvels, on nostalgia if nothing else.

#2
I like all the current finishes, although some different camo and snakeskin colors might be cool. "Root Beer" as a standard color would be cool, too.

#3
D-Tunas as an option on the USA Selects would be nice. I seem to be in the minority here, though.

Make a 7-string SL2H. Preferrably string-thru. Even in a limited run. I bet you'll sell all of them you make. I'm sure the people who want one would pay a premium, too - but the 18 month wait on the custom shop scares a lot of people off.

I know for sure you'd sell one, though.

I'm also totally in favor of the Archtop Soloist, even if you just import the Jackson Stars one.

Oh, and oiled necks available on everything.

#4

Honestly - lose the 'fins with no binding. It looks really, really cheap. A seven string SLSMG might go a long way, too.

When my Custom Shop was delivered in November.

Seriously, the line has a lot of good things going for it, but with a few tweaks, it could be really awesome.

DM,
I just noticed that your website was at the bottom of my post. I copied & pasted your post so I wouldn't have to remember what McD typed. I thought I erased most if not all of your responses and stuff, except for the Dark Green Swirl finish with gold hardware. That truly would look awesome. Of course I think the Dark Purple Swirl w/gold hardware would look just as awesome.
Yes I checked the site out, but being at school I have no speakers so I did not check out the music yet.

A Criss Oliva tribute model would be cool (since this year is the 10th anniversary of his death) which basically would a Jackson USA Fusion model with the "don't smoke" graphic. One of his faves besides the "gargoyle" guitar.

While on the subject of headstocks, I think that on 7-string models, the 3+3 headstock looks the nicest (remember the Blair Witch Rhoads). The pointy head looks too big when extended for a 7th tuner IMHO.

So use the SLS headstock more, if sting pull is an issue. I'm in the "Can the Strathead idea" camp quite firmly.

Strathead Charvels have come and gone. Let them RIP.
